Because life is a journey, a phrase that many people have heard countless times. But each person's journey is different. Some people focus on shopping, some on eating, and some on sightseeing to the point of forgetting to shop or eat. I'm definitely in the latter category. This is the final episode of my solo trip to Nan city. You can follow the first episode at the link below.

Episode 1 NAN @SUMMER Leisurely and Chill

NAN : SLOW LIFE CITY

If we talk about a small town that is not a stopover on the way to the north, or we can say that it is a town that may be overlooked by us, that town is "Nan" because this town is not a stopover. Anyone who comes to Nan is like having to come on purpose. Which is a truth that cannot be avoided. But if you book a plane ticket, you must have really intended to come.

And now we've reached the final episode of our whirlwind tour of Mueang Nan district. In this short time, we've said our goodbyes to this city of parades, but we'll meet again soon (though I don't know when).

The quiet morning atmosphere of Nan city, with blurry photos because I was really sleepy but had to push through.

Jittanusorn Market I Mueang District, Nan

Many people have said that if you want to know what the local people's way of life is like, what the social conditions in the area are like, the easiest thing to do is to go out and see the people's way of life in the morning, the local food, or go to the market in the evening. The atmosphere on the street may seem quiet, but when you enter the market, it is very lively.

Pork porridge in Nan

The morning atmosphere in Muang Nan district, even though it is summer, the weather is quite cool. Therefore, when you wake up in the morning, you have to find something hot to eat. That is, "Jok Moo Muang Song", which is located directly opposite the Tangjit Nusorn Market. It's easy to see.

Northern Development Bridge I from Mueang District to Phu Phiang District, Nan Province

After a hearty meal, we set off on our bikes, taking it slow and easy, following the slogan of Nan province: "Nan, slow and easy." As we rode along, we somehow got lost and couldn't find the Northern Development Bridge. We ended up at a public park, even though we were using Google Maps. So we decided to use our mouths and smiles to ask people on the street for directions. Finally, we arrived at the Northern Development Bridge (we heard it was just a short distance from the Tang Trongjit Nusorn Market, but we somehow missed it).

Nan River, Mueang Nan District, Nan

The morning atmosphere at the Northern Development Bridge offers a view of the Nan River, where the boat racing festival is held. It's a pity that I didn't go during the festival, so I missed it. I also missed the walking street because I went on a weekday.

The Northern Development Bridge in the early morning is still devoid of people. The advantage of coming here not on a holiday or maybe it's too early because people usually come around late morning.

The Northern Development Bridge is a bridge connecting two districts of Nan Province: Mueang Nan District and Phu Phiang District. When I cycled to the end of the bridge, I entered Phu Phiang District. I felt a little proud, as if I had cycled across a country, even though I had only cycled across a district.

Nan, the city of bicycles I Amphoe Phu Phiang, Nan

Once you cross the bridge into Phu Phiang district, you will find a large 7-Eleven store. If you are cycling or renting a motorbike, you can stop by and buy snacks and drinks for the road. It's very convenient. (No picture available)

As I cycled along, I came across a sign welcoming me to the ancient city of Wiang Phuphaeng. Along the way to my destination, I passed fields and gardens bathed in the golden light of the rising sun.

Wat Phra That Chae Haeng : Nan

Cycling along, I finally arrived at the most important landmark of Nan province and the sacred pagoda for the year of the Rabbit, Phra That Chae Haeng (I was secretly proud of myself for making it this far on my bike).

As I rode my sweet pink bicycle to the Phra That Chae Haeng Royal Monastery, I was greeted by the sight of mist in the distance and the peaceful atmosphere of the early morning. It would be strange if it wasn't quiet, considering I arrived so early in the morning.

The atmosphere inside the Phra That Chae Haeng is serene and peaceful. The golden stupa gleams in the soft light, casting a warm glow on the surrounding murals and sculptures. The air is filled with the scent of incense and the gentle chanting of monks. Visitors can wander through the temple grounds, admiring the intricate carvings and the beautiful architecture. The Phra That Chae Haeng is a place of great spiritual significance, and it is a popular destination for both Thai and foreign tourists.

After paying respects at Phra That Chae Haeng, I cycled back to my accommodation for another breakfast and prepared to check out. Initially, I intended to stop by the coffee shop at Sut Koong Dee, which is located near the Northern Development Bridge on the Phu Phiang side. However, I regretfully forgot that the shop opens at 10:00 AM. I was deeply disappointed. Perhaps next time.

Nan National Museum

I then cycled to the old place, which was the Lilawadee arch. Since I couldn't enter the National Museum, I took a picture to show that I had visited. It is still closed for renovation.

Wiang Phumin Hotel I Mueang District, Nan

After that, I had breakfast at the hotel and prepared to check out. Before leaving, I took a picture of the room to show you. I slept alone and left the lights on all night because I was scared. It felt like being at home. After checking out, I walked around Wat Phumin and the Tourist Information Center again before saying goodbye.

The atmosphere around the Khwang Muang Square and Wat Phumin, travelers and photographers began to gather to capture images.

After taking photos at Wat Phumin, I walked to the tourist service center and sipped on some green tea before taking a motorbike taxi to the airport. On the table, there were also statues of Pu Man and Ya Man.

The atmosphere inside the shop is small, decorated in brown tones that match the atmosphere of the center.

Around the Tourist Center, the sky on the last day is sometimes sunny, sometimes cloudy. It's hard to guess, but we can only pray that it doesn't rain.

Then, when the time was right, I walked to find a songthaew to Nan Airport. But it turned out that I didn't know where to get on, so I decided to take a motorcycle taxi. I walked to the area of Tangjit Nusorn Market. I took a motorcycle taxi from the market to the airport for 50 baht (is it expensive or not?).

Nan Nakhon Airport: Nan

On the way back, I had the opportunity to take pictures of the atmosphere at Nan Airport. I think it's a small airport, but it looks warm and modern. It is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority. During the lunch break, the baggage check counter and the entrance gate for arriving passengers will be closed. Because the officers go to rest at noon.

As I waited outside, a TAT officer approached me and asked about the meaning of "Nan, the living old city" and why I chose to visit Nan. I replied that I liked Nan because it was a bicycle city and that I had come to Nan specifically to ride a bicycle. The TAT officer, noticing that I only talked about cycling, gave me a bicycle-shaped bookmark. At the end, the officer said, "I saw that you like bicycles, so I gave you this. Actually, there's another one, but I didn't..."

As I waited for my flight, a young woman arrived at the gate. The female officer at the entrance looked at me and nodded, saying, "Come in, young man."

The bird that volunteered to take me back to Bangkok was "Nong Rak Thin", the local bird. Then it was time to say goodbye to the peaceful city of Nan.

The plane finally landed at Don Mueang Airport, and it was raining. But where was Jade? Why wasn't he here to pick me up? I thought to myself as I walked out of the airport and headed home.

On my recent trip to Nan, I was struck by the kindness and hospitality of the locals. I had a particularly memorable conversation with a shopkeeper at a clothing store near the airport. While some might find the city too quiet, I found it to be the perfect place to relax and unwind. The attractions are all conveniently located, making it easy to get around. I highly recommend Nan as a travel destination for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. I fell in love with Nan, but not for a long time, just for a short while.
