Today I'm taking my friends to a resort near Bangkok, in the Pattaya area. This time we're staying at the Sugar Hut Resort and Restaurant in Pattaya. Before we went, I did some research and found out that this hotel is an old one, dating back to 1984. It's also a hotel that conserves the traditional Thai atmosphere. I was a little worried about what an old hotel would be like, but I have to say that the 2 days and 1 night we spent there were unforgettable. I didn't feel like the hotel was old at all.

Chapter 1 Welcome

From the main road, you will see the Sugar Hut sign. Turn into the resort and it's like entering another world. Leave the bright lights and hustle and bustle of Pattaya city behind. After parking your car, you will see the Sugar Hut Restaurant sign clearly. This is because, in addition to being a resort, it is also a restaurant open to the public.

After entering the front door on the left, the staff took me to the Sala Pavillion to wait for my room.

This pavilion serves as a place to relax, read books, and enjoy free Wi-Fi.

After waiting for a while, the staff brought me a welcome drink, which was a refreshing lemongrass water.

Glancing over, I saw more snacks! What should I call this? Welcome Snack? Are they trying to fill us up? It's a cute little set of 5 small bites: chili dip, steamed fish in banana leaf parcels, deep-fried spring rolls, chicken wrapped in pandan leaves, and mieng kham (betel leaf wraps).

Chapter 2 First Impression

After we were full from the honey, the staff took us to our room. As we walked in, we saw a Thai-style house on stilts. We'll come back and visit it during meal time.

The next thing I saw was a large, beautiful swimming pool, which is also open to the public for swimming.

Around the pond, you will see Thai houses scattered around. These are the guest rooms.

Walking along the path, the lush greenery and peaceful atmosphere almost made me forget that I was in Pattaya.

After a leisurely walk, I arrived at my room.

Chapter 3 The Room

Each guest room is a traditional Thai house on stilts. Each house is separate from the others, providing privacy. The room I stayed in was a One Bedroom. The entrance door is a traditional Thai wooden door, complete with an antique lock hanging on it (I don't know how to use it, haha). Oh, the room I stayed in was in a great location - right next to the swimming pool.

I'm coming in now. (Sound of door opening)

As mentioned earlier, this hotel emphasizes its Thai identity. Before climbing the stairs, there is an imitation of an ancient Thai house, which is a water basin for washing feet before entering the house. However, I don't think anyone actually washes their feet there. (right?)

The traditional Thai house is built on stilts, so you have to climb stairs to get to it.

The accommodation is divided into 3 parts: an outdoor living area, a compact patio with a set of chairs, a living room, and a bedroom (with bathroom).

Let's take a look at the living room first. Inside, there is a sofa (very comfortable to sleep on, I must say) with throw pillows for you to cuddle. There is also a TV, a refrigerator, and most importantly, a wine cooler for your enjoyment.

Look out the window for a moment. You can see the swimming pool right there. The view is amazing.

Let's go back to the bedroom. As you open the door, you'll be greeted by a beautifully arranged large bed.

The bedroom ceiling is very high and open, making it very comfortable to sleep in and not feel cramped.

The frangipani flowers that were placed on the bed

At the head of the bed, there will be a book with information about tourist attractions in Pattaya for you to read.

Let's take a look at the bathroom. It's quite spacious. When you open the door, you'll find an open-plan wardrobe.

Counter

This place emphasizes a Thai atmosphere, even in the smallest details. The toiletries even include "nam ob" (a traditional Thai herbal bath water).

The bathroom will see that there are jugs and pots prepared for you. It's very retro.

In the evening, the staff will come and put up mosquito nets and close the windows all the way to the room.

If you're looking to get into the mood, check out the wardrobe on the floor. The resort has casual Thai clothes for both men and women.

I don't know how to review this. Hanging it up and taking a picture doesn't look good, so I had to sacrifice myself to be a model. But don't let me see your face, hehe.

Chapter 4 Walk Around

Have you finished packing your belongings? Come on, let's go for a walk around the resort. It consists of about 22 houses scattered around a large area. There are 3 swimming pools, the first of which is open to the public, but the second and third are reserved for guests only. Take a look at the resort from above (image from Google Earth).

The path here is flanked by tall trees on both sides, with ancient statues scattered here and there.

Koi pond

Some areas of the trail have small waterfalls and water channels running alongside, creating a constant sound of flowing water that is very pleasant to listen to.

The poolside atmosphere has tables and chairs in the pool, allowing you to relax and enjoy soft drinks in the water.

Next to all 3 pools, there are saunas and steam rooms available. I tried sitting in the steam room for a while, but I couldn't stand it. I'm really not a fan.

If you want to go out, you can take a shared taxi. The resort has a golf cart service to take you to the main road.

I remember when I first came in, I saw a strange sign, so I went out to take a look. It was a sign warning of peacocks.

This place also raises peacocks and lets them roam freely. If you're lucky, you'll see them strutting their tails. Unfortunately, I didn't see any. I was just chilling by the pool when I saw a peacock walk by, right next to me.

Part 5: Twilight Time

Now for the highlight of this review, along with some small photography techniques.

Most photos of resorts, accommodations, or commercial use are usually taken during the so-called Twilight Time.

During this period, the photos will be beautiful, the sky will be a beautiful blue like in the picture, and the light from the lights that are starting to turn on will make the accommodation look very beautiful. Especially at Sugar Hut, which is beautifully decorated with lights, making the atmosphere even more beautiful.

Twilight Time is the period of time about half an hour before sunrise and half an hour after sunset. These two periods are considered the golden hours for photography.

Of course, when that time comes, we will only have about 15-20 minutes to take pictures before it gets completely light or dark.

Due to the limited time, we should have a rough plan in mind about where to take pictures, what angles to use, and how to compose the shots. Otherwise, I can assure you that you won't be able to capture everything. This is especially true for large locations where you have to spend time walking between each spot.

And with the diminishing light, a tripod is essential to capture bright, beautiful, and sharp images.

Next time when you go out with friends, try taking pictures during this time. I guarantee you will be amazed by the photos you get.

Chapter 6 Breakfast & Lunch

The dining area will be designed as a spacious Thai pavilion, just like the ones we've seen in dramas.

There are 3 dining areas. One is inside the house.

Two areas outside the house, sitting on the floor, with triangular cushions to lean on, there are only 3 tables.

The original text is empty. There is nothing to translate.

The last one, at the edge of the house, this area has the best atmosphere. Looking out, you can see the pool.

On the table, there will be a vase of beautiful flowers and a bell to call the staff.

Line buffet breakfast. The food is not heavy, but it is full of quality.

The egg corner has fried eggs and omelets.

The fruit and beverage corner is the most impressive part. Usually, when I go to hotels, I only find Sunquick orange juice, but here it's freshly squeezed orange juice. It's so delicious! I ended up having several glasses. >////<

Lunchtime has arrived, and we've ordered some refreshing coconut smoothies to quench our thirst while we wait.

Besides the coconut shake, the hotel has prepared everything else for us. So I don't know the names of many things. As I mentioned earlier, this place is also open as a restaurant for outside guests, which means the taste must be good. And it didn't disappoint. All the food was delicious. Not just good, but really, really good. I was very impressed. Thai food with this kind of taste, if you stay here, you don't need to go out to eat.

Stir-fried rice with chili paste sauce

Curry

Luy Suan Noodles

Pineapple fried rice

I can't translate this. It's not a complete sentence.
