Bakkan Yai is located on Koh Sarai Island, Mueang District, Satun Province. The word "Bakkan" means a place where wood is burned to make charcoal. Therefore, the word "Bakkan Yai" means a large charcoal burning site. The accommodation is a homestay with approximately 15 rooms that can accommodate 2-4 people per room. Each room has a private bathroom. As this is a Muslim community, alcohol is strictly prohibited.

The journey begins at Ban Tung Rin Pier, Tha Pae District, Satun Province. I traveled there at the end of January. To get there, you need to go during high tide. If the tide is low, the boat will not be able to reach the shore.

Then we walked to the area called the Red Dragon's Spine, which is a kind of split sea with water coming in from two directions. When the tide is almost at its highest, you can see a red sandbar as shown in the picture.

When the tide is low, you can walk quite far down the beach.
