No car, no problem! Episode 1...Motorcycle ride...Krabi trip 3 days 2 nights

The trip to Krabi happened spontaneously... and intentionally. But with the desire to travel of the participants in this trip, it was the same. Coupled with the fact that the big brother had funded the trip in advance, this trip was something that was very exciting... money was ready, the place was ready, so we headed south right away. The place we chose to explore this time was Krabi Province. We went during May 19-21 because if we went after that, it would be right in the middle of the monsoon season.

With everything planned out, including the time, location, accommodation, and tourist attractions, we were ready to embark on our journey. This time, we opted to travel by plane.

Note: Currently, air travel is accessible to low-income people like us. However, it is recommended to book in advance for a long time to get cheap tickets. But due to the sudden... urgency, we tried to choose an airline with a price that was affordable. We chose to go with Lion Air and return with AirAsia (domestic airlines Lion Air, AirAsia, Thai Smile, Nok Air, Bangkok Airways).

If you're not flying, you can take a bus from the Southern Bus Terminal to...

The first day of the journey has arrived (May 19, 2016).

We are ready to meet at Don Mueang Airport to head to Krabi. Let's go!.........................

Upon arrival at Krabi Airport, we booked a room in Ao Nang. But how to get there? Upon exiting the airport, we looked for a shuttle bus to take us to our destination. Here, shuttle buses are available to transport tourists to the city, Ao Nang, or other locations. The buses will take you to your desired destination. If you can't find the ticket booth at the airport, just ask around. The buses are parked on the left side after exiting the airport.

Note: We did the same thing. We arrived at the airport knowing we needed to take a shuttle bus, but we didn't know where to buy tickets. We walked to a car and told the driver we were going to Ao Nang and staying at the Paradise Resort. He immediately said it would be 150 baht per person. He then called out "1, 2, 3" to find a ticket seller and brought us the tickets. We then boarded the bus and headed to our destination. The journey took about 45 minutes to 1 hour because the bus had to drop off other passengers at different points.

We're here.

This is the condition of the room where we slept together last night.

Surroundings of the hotel

Note: This hotel is not far from Ao Nang Beach, about 400-500 meters. However, we think it's okay, even though it's far from Ao Nang Beach, it's not too far to reach. Because being close to the beach doesn't mean there's anything to see. Can you imagine that Ao Nang Beach doesn't have an area for walking? The beach area has a concrete road. As for the next beach from Ao Nang Beach, it's Nopparat Beach. This one is worth walking. We recommend that if you go, you can take a motorbike or use a two-row car for 20 baht or a motorcycle with a sidecar for about 40 baht.

This picture shows the swimming pool area. The view is beautiful, it looks wide, but they say it's narrow, so don't expect to be able to swim 4*4 or freestyle. It's just enough to swim two strokes and you'll touch the edge of the pool. Let's just say you can just bow, enjoy the breeze and the view. This pool closes at 9pm.

This is breakfast here... It's edible, but there might not be a lot of food.

Hotel front + breakfast

Upon arrival at our accommodation, we checked in and inquired about the places we would be visiting in the following days.

Note: The room rate is reasonable....not expensive. You can inquire (We don't have our phone number, it's gone somewhere. But nowadays, the internet and Google can help you).

After packing our belongings, our next destination was the renowned Emerald Pool. Our mode of transportation? A motorbike, of course! We inquired at the hotel, and they connected us with a rental shop that also offered cars. Prices started at 1,000 baht and varied depending on the vehicle model.

As for us...motorcycles, of course. We rented 2 bikes, 250 baht each, to head to the Emerald Pool. But before we went, we needed to refuel, as it was already noon. We chose a restaurant near the Ao Nang beach front.

I'd like to let you know that the cost of living here is quite expensive. You won't find any rice and curry shops with dishes for 34 baht or even under 100 baht. Most dishes are 100 baht and up. So, bring enough money with you. The cost of attractions and hotels isn't too bad, but the cost of food is something I don't want to mention. However, you have to accept it because it's a tourist destination. If you want to save money, 7-Eleven can help you.

This is the restaurant we went to eat at. The food is delicious and the price is reasonable. It's located near the beach in Ao Nang. The price is also reasonable, not too expensive, not too cheap.

Emerald Pool...Oh my God....We haven't mentioned this at the beginning. Anyone who wants to go to Emerald Pool, please consider this a little bit. Because the distance from Ao Nang to Emerald Pool is 67 kilometers, almost 70 kilometers.

However...wherever it is, be prepared that you want to go, but not prepared that it will be this far. But if you've come this far, then go ahead. The journey is to drive some of the way back the same way. Go towards the airport, heading towards Khlong Thom District or the route that heads towards Koh Lanta. Just go straight ahead following the signs (Once you get out of Ao Nang, just go straight ahead because on the way we will be confused and lost around Ao Nang to go to the airport route).

Heading...riding...long...long...As I drove, my butt started to hurt...While driving, I saw the sign for Emerald Pool and was secretly happy, thinking I would be there soon. But I was disappointed every time. It wasn't close yet. But my destination was getting closer after driving for an hour...

There will be a sign for Emerald Pool, turn left. Turn left and go for about 200-300 meters, you will see a sign telling you to turn right. Then go straight ahead.....the road is clear and convenient. Before reaching Emerald Pool, there will be a hot spring. Let's stop by on the way back.

We've finally arrived at Emerald Pool! After driving for what felt like hours, I thought we were crossing provinces.

This is the entrance sign. When you arrive, you will have to pay a park fee of 20 baht per person. When we arrived, we thought we could just walk in and be there. But no, we had to walk for almost a kilometer. Well, when we arrived, we stretched our legs a bit to get our bodies moving.

Along the way, there are ponds to walk around and a nature study trail. Anyone can walk and study, but since we came for a quick visit, we just went to the Emerald Pool.

We went to Emerald Pool in May, which is the nesting season for birds. As a result, we were unable to go up to the headwaters, which they say have beautiful, clear water. We missed it by a bit. As for drinking water, there are vendors selling it at the entrance to Emerald Pool, and there are also restrooms available.

Okay, okay, okay... I'm here. It's just as I hoped, the water is beautiful, clear, and green. Except for one thing: the scenery, the feeling of being full of beautiful, clear water, it's all gone because there are so many people. Just bear with me for a moment, but... the water is so tempting, I'm telling you.

It's good to be green. It's a pity that I didn't get to play (not ready. I suggest that anyone who is going to play in the water should prepare equipment and clothes to change into).

Once we were satisfied, it was time to head back, as we had to return the same way we came. We went as far as we went and returned as much.

This... The picture before entering the Emerald Pool has shops and restaurants for you to buy and eat before entering. Because there are no restaurants inside, mind you. The shops that sell water are run by park officials.

And this...is...the entrance and exit of the Emerald Pool.

On the way back, we stopped at the Hot Waterfall, which is a passage before reaching... Emerald Pool. When we went there, it was under development to become a tourist attraction, including a hot spring bath. We believe that if it is fully developed, it will be even more beautiful.

However, there are fewer hot springs than in the north. If you have ever been to a hot spring in the north, this one is much smaller. However, it is a place where you can sit and eat, relax, and maybe there is more to it than that. However, there was nothing there when I went (May 2016).

As for the hot spring, it's what you see here. Walk a little further and you'll find another waterfall, this one flowing into the river. Let me tell you, it's packed with people playing in the water.

This is what people come to play.

Under development

After a quick bite, we headed back to our accommodation, as the atmosphere was not conducive to staying out for long. The weather was unpredictable, so we didn't want to risk getting caught in the rain. We zoomed off on our motorbikes...

As we rode back... we went back the same way, right? We were confused and lost, so we asked for directions. While we were stuck in traffic at a red light, we met some fellow travelers, which was exactly what we needed. We followed each other and soon arrived. When we reached Ao Nang, it was already evening, but we weren't hungry yet. So we decided to walk along Nopparat Beach.

What are you waiting for? Let's go! It's not a long drive. After passing Ao Nang, you'll reach Nopparat Thara Beach. Let me tell you, the beach is stunning and vast. You can walk, sit, play, and take photos at your leisure. It's so relaxing. Let's go! We had a great time waiting for the sunset. I guarantee it will be beautiful.

Beautiful view

There were a lot of people taking pictures.

Sunset

Oops... I didn't realize... In the blink of an eye, one day has passed. It's time to find something to eat and head back to our accommodation. We'll get up and continue tomorrow.

Stay tuned for the next episode...
