Hello, remember us? We're the ones who love to travel with our roommate. You must remember us, we only wrote one review on Readme.me^^ Today we're going to take you on a trip to Ubon Ratchathani. My roommate and I visited Ubon Ratchathani once last year and were impressed by many things in this province. When we saw the red-tailed airline offering a promotion for 190 baht per flight, I repeat, 190 baht!! I snatched 2 seats and booked them almost half a year ago. So when it was time to fly, we weren't that excited anymore. It's been too long 555+. This trip we planned to visit 3 districts: Khemmarat, Khong Chiam and Mueang Ubon Ratchathani. Let's go!

DAY 1 : Khemmarat is a chic city

Hellooo Ubon (Adele's voice).../ We landed at Ubon Ratchathani International Airport (Uh, if we didn't land in Ubon, where would we land? 555) We called a taxi that we used last year to pick us up and take us to Ubon Bus Terminal. The taxi driver's name is Uncle Prasit. He's very friendly and always uses the meter. There's no fixed price. If you're interested in using his service, his number is 087-2437404, 080-4708294. Good service, please spread the word, haha. When we arrived at the bus terminal, we took a van to Khemmarat District. The fare was 120 baht per person. Along the way, people got on and off the van. We met a grandmother who got on from Amnat Charoen (the van also passes through Amnat Charoen) and there was no seat available. The grandmother stood up and kept complaining. When we reached our destination, she told the driver to stop and asked how much the fare was. The driver said, "20 baht, it's not far." The grandmother said, "20 baht? Okay, here's 30 baht." My roommate and I looked at each other and thought, "She didn't even get a seat and stood the whole time, but she paid more than the fare." We were a bit confused. Well, the grandmother is cute. She complained but paid more. 555 It took about 3 hours to reach Khemmarat District. As soon as we got off the van, someone opened the door for us. At that moment, we felt like Korean celebrities with people swarming around us. 555+ The first words we heard were, "Where are you going?" The van can take you there. It was the voice of the Skylab driver. We didn't pay attention and opened Google to find accommodation. Then we walked around to see the houses and the town. Our accommodation was called Rim Khong Talay Lom, 500 baht per night. You can contact them at 089-6931074. As soon as we put our things down, we went to the owner of the accommodation to rent a motorbike for 150 baht per day. Actually, they don't rent motorbikes here, it's the owner's nephew's motorbike. We asked to rent it and got it. With the motorbike, we zoomed off. Our main destination was this.....Had Chom Dao, the place advertised by TAT. But the first place we actually arrived at was Wat Bung Khilek, a temple located on the way to Had Chom Dao.

Then we continued to Hat Sai Kaew, Ban Lat Charoen, driving in the same direction as Hat Chom Dao. Do I know the way? No, I don't.^^ Opening Google Maps is good, but it's no wonder I see news about people driving their cars into the water because they use this app. 555 We relied on asking the locals for directions, and then... we arrived.

At Haad Chom Dao, there are also floating restaurants. We went to sit and eat something to fill our stomachs for a while. The atmosphere on the raft is super good.

The weather today wasn't very cooperative. The sky was overcast, with heavy clouds alternating with light rain showers that came and went. I wondered if we would be able to reach the Stargazing Beach. At first, I was discouraged and thought about returning to our accommodation. But then I looked at the time, it was already past 5 pm. I parked the car and looked at the sky. "Let's do it!" I thought. "We've come this far, we have to go all the way." As we drove, we prayed for the weather to cooperate, and it actually did. We finally arrived at the Stargazing Beach.

The real inspiration that made me want to come here again is seeing the Thai tourism advertisement with Sunny and Madam Mod. I saw the beautiful location and Sunny was like, "Wow, so cool!" So I wanted to be Sunny too. As for the person who comes with me, it could be Madam Mod or a witch, whatever you're comfortable with. But I'm comfortable being Sunny. 55555

The area around Haad Chom Dao is a collection of small and large rocks, naturally arranged. It looks strange, but also beautiful.

After taking photos until we were satisfied, we rode back to our accommodation. It was around 6 pm then. I forgot to mention that the distance between our accommodation and Haad Chom Dao is about 29 km, not too far. We arrived at our accommodation at 9:30 pm. We took a shower and went out to eat at Baan Kong Pha Neng restaurant. I didn't take any pictures of the food that time, I was so hungry lol. After eating, we went back to our accommodation and slept. Zzzzzzz Getting ready to continue our journey tomorrow. Our goal is Khong Chiam.

DAY 2 : Khong Chiam is a city of nature

After checking out of Khemmarat, our next destination was Khong Chiam. We walked back to the original spot to catch a van back to Ubon Ratchathani city. There is no public transportation from Khemmarat to Khong Chiam, but there is a bus to Trakan Phuet Phon district and then another bus to Khong Chiam. We weren't sure if there would be a bus to Khong Chiam, so we were a bit worried. While walking to the van, we walked along the Mekong River and took a picture with the district sign.

Passing Wat Pho, the Big Buddha is very beautiful.

The fare from the city to Khong Chiam is 70 baht per person. It takes about an hour and a half to reach Khong Chiam. We checked in at Mongkol Guesthouse for 350 baht per night with air conditioning. After dropping off our belongings, we walked to the steakhouse to rent a motorbike. There is only one rental shop in Khong Chiam, located on the way to the Two-Colored River. The rental fee is 300 baht per day. Our plan for the day was to visit Long Ru Waterfall, Soi Sawan Waterfall, and Kaeng Tana Rapids. However, since it is almost the rainy season, the sky was dark and windy. And with the time we spent on the bus for almost half a day, we only managed to visit Soi Sawan Waterfall. The officer asked us to park our car and walk another 500 meters.

DAY 3 : Ubon Ratchathani has a lot of rain 555+

We woke up at 6 am, planning to go and fix the place we didn't get to yesterday. We thought about going to the waterfall, but the weather didn't look promising, so we drove to have coffee at the Khong Jiam market. Then we went to pray at Tham Khuha Sawan Temple. We were here once last year, but the big gong wasn't here then. It's really huge.

We walked down the path to the bottom to pay respects to Luang Pu Kham Kaning Chulamani, the founder of Wat Tham Khuha Sawan. Before reaching the bottom, there is a viewpoint. Is it beautiful?

The Buddha statue below before entering to pay respect to Luang Pho.

After paying respects at the temple, we continued to Kaeng Tana. Turn right out of the temple and follow the signs. It's not far from the temple.

Our intention was to take a picture at the suspension bridge, which can be seen from afar from this side, but we didn't know how to get there. We asked the locals and found out that we had to cross to the other side. Why wait? We drove back to the market, crossed the Mun River, and asked for directions along the way. We didn't use Google Maps, it was too accurate. 555 We asked until we reached our destination, Kaeng Tana National Park. The entrance fee was 20 baht per person. As soon as we arrived, it started to rain. We waited for a while and the rain stopped. We quickly took some pictures and then left. We checked out and took a car back to the city. This trip was truly a "travel" adventure. 555+

Upon arriving at Ubon Ratchathani Bus Terminal, we walked to the taxi queue next to the terminal to rent a motorbike at JJ Motorcycle Rental. Well... this trip we rented 3 motorbikes already, lol. This one cost 250 baht. We left our bags at the rental shop and drove to Wat Phra That Nong Bua first. I had seen pictures of it before and thought it was beautiful, but in person it was even more stunning. However, my camera had dust on the sensor. I tried to remove it, but I was afraid of damaging it. I just finished paying it off last month, haha. Anyway, even without a camera, I still had my phone. I had to get some pictures to bring back.

After walking around, we continued to Wat Sa Prasan Suk, or Wat Ban Na Mueang. It might seem a bit rushed, but it's getting dark again, folks. 555

After that, it started raining and the wind picked up. We rushed back to the rental car. Our plans to visit Hat Wat Tai, Wat Nong Pa Phong, Suan Wan, and Lek Nom Sod were all ruined. We took shelter from the rain at the rental car shop until it stopped, which was around 5:00 PM. We then walked to the airport, which wasn't far away. We stopped for dinner near the airport and waited for our flight to take off at 7:25 PM. We flew back to Bangkok safely.

That's the end of my trip to Ubon Ratchathani. Sometimes, things don't go according to plan. Nature is something we can't control.

***And that's the beauty of travel.***
