Hello, in this post, we will take you to Perhentian Island on the Malaysian side. We traveled during July 17-19.
To avoid wasting time, let's start with how to get to Perhentian Island, shall we?

How to get there

1. We flew from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur.

2. Fly from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu

3. Take a taxi from Kuala Terengganu Airport to Besut Jetty.

4. Take a boat from Besut Jetty to Perhentian Island

We book flights for all Air Asia flights. The price list is attached below. Upon arrival at Trang Airport, walk downstairs to the taxi counter where the prices are clearly displayed. The prices are per car.

We took a taxi from the airport to Besut Jetty for 120 RM/car.

The journey from the airport to the port takes about 1.30 hours, which is quite a distance. Hehe.

Upon arrival, purchase a round-trip ferry ticket. The price is 70RM per person, or 35RM per trip.

Most boats have a schedule of 8.00 / 12.00 / 16.00, so try to find a flight or arrange your time to catch the boat. Haha.

And this is the boat we have to take.

Upon boarding the boat, the driver will ask where you are staying. He will then take you to the resort where you are staying.

The boat takes about 30 minutes to reach Perhentian Island.

The accommodation we booked is the Barat. The boat will take us there directly. That's great, haha.

Overall, the accommodation is decent. The room is not big, but it is convenient. There are 2 restaurants in the area that are not part of the resort, and they are cheaper than the resort's food. There is a restaurant that says "Chinese Restaurant" but the seller is Thai. For us, the taste is the most delicious, haha. The quantity and quality seem worthwhile.

If you only want to visit a specific location, you can hire a taxi boat. The prices are clearly stated, and they offer life jacket and snorkel rentals. If you book a tour, these services are provided free of charge on the boat.

Initially, we wanted a one-day trip to Redang Island, but unfortunately, it was fully booked. We were very disappointed. Tours to Redang Island are not available every day, so you need to inquire about availability.

So we have to change the plan as follows:

Trip B in the morning from 10 am to 1 pm and trip A from 2 pm to 5 pm. The total price is 90 RM/person.

The next morning, we started with Trip B:

1. The first location is Rawa Island. For each trip, they limit the number of tourists to no more than 8 people.

The sky was dark on the way there, and I was worried that it would rain, but I made it through. Yay!

This area is suitable for diving to see coral and fish. The overall coral condition is still considered okay.

2. The next place is Tokong Burung

The water here is incredibly clear. There's a small beach, but you have to swim to get there. We didn't go up because we were too busy taking pictures, haha!

Each point will take approximately 30-40 minutes.

Let's move on to the next location of trip B, which is...

3. Serengeh Island The boat will park right on the beach here.

The foreigners will go up to sunbathe while we continue to swim and watch the fish like before. Hee hee.

The water on this island is incredibly clear.

And this next picture is a particular favorite of mine. Hehe, the water is beautiful, the sand is so white.

The area around the boat will have a school of fish ... they are surrounded by them.

After finishing Serengeh Island, the next place we had to go to was the lighthouse. But due to exhaustion and the fact that the lighthouse area involved diving down to see the fish, everyone on the boat voted not to stop. We felt like we had seen enough fish already, haha.

Then we had some time to rest at the hotel room for a bit before the afternoon trip A started.

At 2:00 pm, Trip A set sail. Our main goals for Trip A were to see sharks and sea turtles.

However, if you prefer to see schools of fish and coral, a B trip is sufficient.

Let's start trip A at

1. Teluk K.K. Let's go!

This area is for us. If anyone has been on Trip B before, they might feel that it's just so-so, the water isn't that clear.

Let's cut to location 2 now.

2. That's Shark Bay.

The little shark was very shy. We saw two of them, but they disappeared into the murky water. Our boat driver tried his best to call the sharks.

The sharks came and went so quickly that we couldn't get a still photo. We'll have to settle for a video, haha!

The next place is

3. Turtle Point Just now, there were 2 sharks, right? This one also has 2 turtles. 555555 They are also deep down. I can't reach them. But in the picture, there is a foreigner who dived down to take a picture of the turtle. The pose is very beautiful.

The final stop on Trip A is

4. Turtle Beach: Don't let the name fool you, there are no turtles here! Haha! But it's our absolute favorite spot. The water is teeming with fish, crystal clear, and the sand is incredibly white. If you come here, don't miss this island. You can even hire a taxi boat to get there.

Here comes our hero! Everyone who sees him runs away, haha! Seeing your teeth makes me feel uneasy.

And that concludes our diving trip. It's time to head back to our accommodation, where there are beach chairs for us to relax on comfortably.

After finishing the shower, I had lunch. This is the resort's restaurant.

The electricity on the island goes out quite often, but there is still some, haha. As for the resort's internet, it's very difficult to connect, but whatever, we should just enjoy nature, right?

The next day, the boat picked us up at the resort's pier at 12.00 p.m. On the way, the boat also picked up other passengers.

I saw a resort, I don't know the name, but it looked so cute, haha.

On the way back, when we reached the shore, we wanted to go to the Crystal Mosque. So we agreed with the taxi on the shore to go to the Crystal Mosque first and then to the airport. We got a price of 150 Rm. It takes about 2 hours from the shore to the Crystal Mosque.

We can enter the mosque, but if we are not dressed properly, we can wear the clothes they have prepared for us. No problem, haha. The staff here are very friendly. There are free guides, free clothes, free questions, and no entrance fee.

This mosque will be built on the water. It's so beautiful.

Then we went back to the airport to fly back to KL.

If you're looking to experience the beauty of the Malaysian sea, we highly recommend the Perhentian Islands. The prices are reasonable, the crowds are minimal, and it's the perfect place to unwind and relax. 😉

This is just a rough estimate, the price may vary depending on the time of booking, both flight tickets and accommodation. For us, we went for 5 days, stayed in Kuala Lumpur for 2 days and went to Perhentian Island for 3 days. We ate quite a lot and we also paid a stupid price for the train into the city when we were in Kuala Lumpur. For the whole trip, we spent a budget of 14,000 baht and had 60 RM left over 55555.
