First of all, I must confess that I am a fan of Korean series, just like many of my friends and colleagues.
Therefore, being invited to taste the food this time is considered another time that I feel connected to the atmosphere of the restaurant.
And the scent of memories that I had seen in dramas came to me, making me feel like I was actually in Korea... at this place.
"Kongju Restaurant, Pathumwan Princess Hotel"
How many people know that Pathumwan Princess Hotel has had a Korean restaurant for over 20 years!!!
You read that right, 20 years. That's right, even before the Korean drama craze hit our country.
In addition, this Korean restaurant is also called "Kongju", which in Thai translates to "princess", matching the hotel's name "Pathumwan Princess", which also means "princess".
Reading up to this point, I was impressed by the details of this place. From the front gate, there were staff dressed in Korean national costumes, which really made me feel the Korean atmosphere.
Upon seeing the restaurant's logo, I was greeted by "Madame Kim Hanna," who oversees the quality of the food here.
Madam said that since this restaurant opened,
"The shop's logo is a Korean crown, befitting its name."
The first thing that came to mind was the symbol of the Pathumwan Princess Hotel, which is also a crown. What a coincidence! As I stepped into the dining room, Madame, who was standing inside, smiled and raised her hand in a Thai wai.
Without hesitation, I immediately raised my hand to wai to Madame in response.
Upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted by a full-blown Korean atmosphere.
The interior design creates a sense of excitement before I even get to taste the food, which is said to be
Korean food with flavors adjusted to suit Thai people, using authentic Korean ingredients.
During peak hours, the restaurant will have a designated waiting area for new guests.
Before entering the dining room, there is a spacious hall that looks grand. It feels very comfortable and private.
As we arrive at the table, the first item on today's menu begins with
Fried Chicken with Chili (DAHK KANG JEONG)
This restaurant's recipe features crispy chicken.
And it has a slightly spicy taste. Madame said that this menu item has been available since the restaurant opened.
It can be said that this is one of the top Korean fried chicken restaurants in Thailand.
Garlic that has been
Thinly sliced and deep-fried until golden and crispy, served with fried chicken and sprinkled with fried chili threads.
Upon taking a bite, one immediately senses that …….
This is a menu that will surely be to the liking of many Thai people.
After having tasted the first dish and having fallen completely in love with it,
Now we come to the next item. Madam told me that Korean food focuses a lot on health.
Therefore, this program is indispensable.
"Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup"
As it was served on the table, my nose was greeted by the aroma of ginseng emanating from the warm soup.
The cool feeling at that moment… almost warmed up immediately.
Inside the soup, in addition to tender chicken, there are also Chinese wolfberries, ginseng, and medicinal herbs.
And most importantly, there is also "sticky rice", which Madam also said that Korean people, when they eat hot soup,
It is often necessary to have rice with it to make you feel full. Therefore, some people can also eat soup alone. Next, it will be another menu with a very fancy name. Madam said that this menu item is called
"Princess Pathumwan" (GOO JEOL PAN)
Named after the hotel, the location of the restaurant.
To eat, you must use a sheet of dough to wrap the prepared ingredients, such as:
Egg yolk threads, egg white threads, minced shrimp, cucumber, carrot, mushroom, crab stick, shredded chicken
After being neatly wrapped, it's time to eat. It can be eaten with a delicious Korean dipping sauce.
It adds a lot of flavor. Madame will tell you about each dish.
and packed the food for me to eat properly. Madame said that putting a variety of colorful side dishes like this
This allows us to receive complete nutrients and
In Korean, "wrapping/bundling food" signifies "LUCKY".
Korean food is meant to bring "good luck" to the eater. I was truly satisfied both in my stomach and in my heart at the same time.
"Korean Salted Braised Short Ribs" (HO BAK KAL BEE TCHIM)
Another delicious dish that features tender ribs nestled inside a ripe pumpkin.
The sweetness of the ripe and fragrant pumpkin flesh adds a rich depth of flavor to the ribs.
And it is also incredibly nutritious.
After seeing this menu, Madame walked over and asked me,
"Would you like to eat now?"
To be honest, I was already craving it at that moment.
So I agreed with Madame.
Madame then proceeded to prepare a knife to open this menu for me.
And what was beyond expectations was...
After Madame had finished, the appearance of the food changed.
The more it makes me want to touch it faster.
After tasting the food, which has many stories, it's time to sip some warm tea.
To make your throat more comfortable, the restaurant serves Korean tea.
Let me try it too.
I must say, I usually only drink Thai tea and Japanese tea. This is my first time trying this.
who have tasted authentic Korean tea
Now, let's move on to today's main menu. The restaurant calls it
All You Can Eat
Consists of chicken, pork, beef, pork ribs, pork belly, sea bass, squid, salmon
Including the food that I mentioned earlier.
Whether it's Princess Pathumwan, fried chicken with chili, and many other items.
For a complete Korean meal, "side dishes" are a must-have.
Here, we also have a wide variety to choose from, such as
Garlic rice, kimchi soup, seaweed soup, kimchi, Korean-style stir-fried potatoes, vegetable salad, blah blah blah (really a lot)
From now on, it's time to get down to business.
The deliciousness, besides what I will say that the taste is marinated, grilled with a fragrant charcoal stove.
Perfectly cooked for a well-rounded flavor.
Standing the test of time, a companion to the great city of Bangkok for 20 years.
I have to let this feeling out through pictures for all my friends, brothers, and sisters.
Let me "see" it first, haha. Let me try every item first.
My stomach is now working seriously, haha!
And perhaps it was because Madame saw me enjoying the variety of dishes.
Madam told me that Korean food, which is being grilled and roasted with gusto,
If I didn't have Khao Yum, it would be like I was missing something. So Madam arranged for me to try another bowl of Khao Yum.
Let me tell you, no matter how full I am... at this point... I'm fighting to the death!
After having tasted and eaten heavily (I wouldn't call it "tasting" anymore, as it's gone far beyond that point),
The madam smiled at me from across the table and said ....
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Kongju Restaurant, the restaurant has a special menu.
To allow customers to enjoy, it will be food that is minimally processed to allow customers to
I can clearly taste the true flavors of the food.
This menu will be available throughout September 2016.
For those who follow to try, please name the menu to celebrate the 20th anniversary.
The madam told me that this is the first dish served to customers.
I myself really feel the specialness this time, and most importantly, Madame has taken the initiative to cut the vegetables.
And arrange to wrap it as a word for me ……. Madame still insists on the same words
"Packaging is about delivering good luck to customers."
According to the Korean word …..
Oh, the melt-in-your-mouth tender pork with the signature kimchi flavor of this place.
What a perfect match... and then what?
Where did my previous feeling of fullness go? I really can't tell.
Perhaps it's because of the deliciousness and the taste that I've never experienced anywhere else before.
It makes me want to eat it. And with the special recommendation, there's no way I can say no. Hehe.
After finishing our meal, we had the opportunity to chat with Madame for quite some time. The fun began right there at the table.
As Madame has been living in Thailand for a long time, she has many funny stories to tell me. I laughed a lot.
Sitting down to let the food settle, smiles appeared constantly. And what I felt here was
All staff are friendly, dedicated to serving and providing information at all times.
The Thai smile and etiquette are perfectly blended with the Korean atmosphere.
From the moment I first stepped foot in, until the time I am about to leave,
I myself feel the fullness of this place, whether it is the service or the selection of ingredients.
To be used in cooking. Importantly, the kimchi here is made fresh every day.
According to Madame, who has a variety of ironclad rules for selecting her staff, she always says that
To make it delicious for customers, we must always select the best ingredients to serve.
Once again, I'm not saying this to convince you, but I want you to come and try it for yourself.
Then you will be aware of the various details of this restaurant. …………
