Continuing from the first part, we finally arrived at the pine forest. It was quite tiring. When we looked at the time, it was almost 3:30 PM. We started walking at 9:30 AM, so it took quite a while. Because we were tired and it was getting dark (it gets dark quickly in the forest), we had to get our belongings from the porters and find a suitable place to pitch our tents on the clearing. The officers had dug drainage ditches for us. After we finished setting up our sleeping arrangements, we went to the waterfall to collect water for bathing. This is a unique feature of this place because there is no running water, so we have to collect it ourselves. After bathing, we built a bonfire and left it burning so that we would have light when it got dark and to cook food. Once we had taken care of our basic needs, we went for a walk and took some pictures. It was after 5:00 PM and it was starting to get dark. We didn't see the sunset today because it was very foggy, but it was a different kind of atmosphere. Being in the midst of the fog gave us a different kind of feeling. So, here are the pictures I took for you.

1. The sign for Sai Thib Waterfall, where we went to collect water, is quite steep, but the atmosphere is very good.

2. The campsite was bustling with groups of tourists when I visited, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Each group adhered to the regulations, and the majority appeared to be student groups like ours. Perhaps they were recharging before the start of the semester, as it would be difficult to find time once classes resumed. 😓 😓

The evening atmosphere around the pine field began to have a thin mist. But around 6 pm, the fog was so thick that I couldn't see the sunset. Instead, I got to experience the fog. 😠😠 But sometimes the fog is so cold that it makes me feel lonely.

4. Some people walk alone, some walk in pairs, but experiencing the mist-covered fields like this is a wonderful atmosphere. It helps to relieve the fatigue from the hustle and bustle of the big city very well. This is why I love the mountains because it makes me feel warm every time and gives me the inspiration to keep moving forward in life. ^^ 😍😍

My friends and I went for a walk and before we knew it, the fog had become very thick, obscuring the view from the viewpoint. We quickly returned to our accommodation and cooked dinner. I had a slight headache, so I took some medicine and went to bed. However, I couldn't sleep because it started raining around 2 am. I had to wake up to check the tent and make sure it wouldn't flood. Some rainwater did seep into the tent (I guess you could call it a good experience, haha). We all got soaked that night! As they say, you can't climb Phu Soi Dao without some resilience. But for me, I smiled and saw it as a blessing from nature. We can't control nature, but we can learn to live with it.

A Serene Morning at Phu Soi Dao

The morning after a rain-soaked night dawned bright. Sipping hot coffee, I embarked on a leisurely stroll, camera in hand, to capture the iconic Na Khon Na flowers. These vibrant blooms are a hallmark of Phu Soi Dao, a must-see for any visitor. While the flowers were not yet in full bloom during my visit, the sight was still breathtaking. I can only imagine the spectacle they create in the peak season. Even with the limited blooms, the experience was truly rewarding. The glistening dewdrops clinging to the Na Khon Na leaves were a sight to behold, offering a sense of tranquility and visual delight. It was a perfect start to a refreshing day.

7. Before leaving Phu Luang, we took a final picture together, knowing that it might be a while before we could all meet again. Each of us has our own responsibilities and dreams to pursue, but at least we have this photo to remind us of this special place whenever we look at it.

8. The condition of the shoes indicates what they have been through. Nanyang shoes can be used for mountain climbing, but I don't recommend doing so. It's better to wear proper climbing shoes. I'm a bit reckless.🙈 🙉 🙊

9. The final image from the mountain captures the beautiful natural scenery as we descended. Our travel time was coming to an end, but our dreams must continue. Upon reaching the bottom, the aunt who had initially rented us the car was waiting to pick us up. She provided excellent service, taking us to a place to shower and change as our train was scheduled to depart at 10 p.m. While waiting for the train back home, we grabbed some food near the station and chatted with our friends, exchanging experiences. After this trip, everyone will go their separate ways to pursue their studies at their respective universities and follow their own dreams.

And then, the camera battery died, like a reminder that this trip was coming to an end. But of course, my journey doesn't end with this trip. I still have a dream to travel and explore, to learn about myself and the world around me, to improve myself and find inspiration for life.

I would also like to thank the engineering students from Suranaree University who I met along the way and who also joined me. I hope that we will have the opportunity to meet again on our next trip.

*Summary of expenses

1. The train fare is 179 baht for a round trip, totaling 358 baht.

2. The fare for a songthaew from the train station to the old bus terminal is 40 baht.

The cost of a taxi to Phu Soi Dao is 500 baht, round trip.

4. Entrance fee for students is 20 baht, and for the general public, it is 40 baht.

5. Each faculty will contribute 200 baht for the garbage deposit.

6. Cooking stove and charcoal:

• Stove: 100 baht
• Charcoal: 20 baht (Note: The park sells it for 50 baht, but we bought it ourselves from the market, so it was cheaper.)

7. The cost of carrying goods uphill for 15 kilometers and downhill for 12 kilometers is 27 kilometers. The cost per kilometer is 30 baht, for a total of 810 baht. This is divided among 4 people, for a total of

9. The taxi fare from home to Hua Lamphong and back is 70 baht per person.

The total budget for the trip is approximately 1670 baht (but it is recommended to bring 2000 baht for those who eat a lot and want to buy souvenirs).
