Nakhon Si Thammarat is another southern province.

Blessed with abundant nature, including mountains, sea, and waterfalls, this destination offers a complete travel experience, catering to all tastes.

I previously visited Nakhon Si Thammarat during a long weekend, and it was incredibly crowded.

This trip, we decided to try traveling on a weekday.
When we traveled on a weekday, what we found did not disappoint.
We were able to travel comfortably, with fewer people, no crowding, and no long waits.

Notably, the cost of food and accommodation is also affordable, which is a major advantage.

To avoid the frustration of traveling, we recommend taking a trip during the week. You'll discover the joys of weekday travel.

Today, we will take you on a tour of Nakhon Si Thammarat City and Khanom.
Both districts have many interesting tourist attractions.
But which ones are the best? Let's follow us on a tour.

Travel from Bangkok to Nakhon Si Thammarat by AirAsia

This trip, we traveled with AirAsia, which has 4 flights per day from Bangkok to Nakhon Si Thammarat.

We opted for the earliest flight at 6:50 am to maximize our time. To avoid any delays, we checked in online before arriving at the airport. Upon arrival, we printed our baggage tags.

Skip the long lines and board with ease. Enjoy peace of mind knowing you won't miss your flight.

Arriving at the airport early in the morning makes you hungry, right? Let's have a quick bite to eat.
New menu from AirAsia Grilled Salmon with Chili and Salt

Grilled Salmon with Chili Salt, Served with Japanese Rice, Miso Soup, and Strawberry Jelly

This dish features grilled salmon seasoned with chili salt, accompanied by Japanese rice, miso soup, and strawberry jelly. The combination of flavors and textures is considered to be particularly delicious.

For our trip from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Khanom, we rented a car from Sixt Rent A Car.

The journey from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Upon arrival, proceed to the exit where you will find the Sixt Rent A Car rental counter. The paperwork and signing process takes approximately 10 minutes.

After a smooth car pick-up, we were ready to hit the road. Oh, I forgot to mention that Sixt rental cars come with free bottled water, tissues, and even an umbrella in the car! I've used many rental companies, but this is the first time I've seen this...

Sixt Rent A Car Booking Information

For those interested in booking a rental car with Sixt Rent A Car, you can make a reservation through the following channels:

  • Website: http://www.sixtthailand.com/
  • Call Center: 1798

It is recommended to book your rental car at least 2-5 days in advance.

Having arrived in the city early this morning, we thought it would be a good idea to grab something delicious to eat and settle our stomachs (it feels like we just ate on the plane) haha.

Kopee Shop

Embark on a delightful journey to savor the authentic flavors of traditional Thai tea and coffee at a renowned establishment in the heart of Nakhon Si Thammarat. This iconic venue is a must-visit destination for any discerning traveler seeking an immersive cultural experience. Indulge in the rich aromas and exquisite flavors of freshly brewed beverages, a testament to the city's culinary heritage.

This restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

It's especially peaceful on weekdays, with fewer crowds, shorter wait times, and no stifling air conditioning.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

My personal favorite is the "Pla Thong Go" from this shop, which comes in both milk and custard options.

The fish in the Thong Ko dessert is tender, not tough or overly firm. It pairs well with iced tea or coffee that is not too sweet.

It is no surprise that this establishment has gained immense popularity.

And most importantly, the price is very affordable. This is great!

Now that we've had our fill, let's continue our journey together.

The first place we will visit is Wat Mahathat Woramahawihan.

**Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province**
An ancient and famous temple in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, where everyone must visit to pay respects and make merit.
It is a renowned landmark of Nakhon Si Thammarat City.

The Unseen of Wat Phra Mahathat refers to the phenomenon where the shadow of the main stupa, Phra Mahathat, never falls on the ground. Regardless of the time of day, the shadow of the stupa's peak remains invisible.

According to legend, there is a sacred Buddha statue at Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan in Nakhon Si Thammarat known as "Phra Aet".

It is believed that he has the miraculous power to grant children to those who request it.

People often come to pay respect and pray for good health and recovery from illness, especially for aches and pains in the back and waist. They do this by placing a wooden stick behind the statue of the reclining Buddha.

**Khun Ratchawut Wichan's house, Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province**

After paying respects and making merit at Wat Phra That, we continued walking for a short distance.
We then came across an ancient house, over 100 years old, that still retains its beauty.
Visitors are welcome to explore the house and get a glimpse of life in the past.

Suchart Traiphansin Shadow Puppet Theatre, Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Next, we will visit the Shadow Puppet Theatre of Suchart Traiphansin.

If you're interested in learning about and seeing shadow puppetry from southern Thailand, this is a great place to visit.
The founder, Uncle Suchart Traipsin, is a skilled craftsman who has received the Outstanding Tourism Industry Award
and the Outstanding Award for Culture and Historical Sites.

The highlights of this location include: a shadow puppet museum, a souvenir shop selling shadow puppet-related items, shadow puppet demonstrations, and shadow puppet performances.

The sun was scorching hot the day we went out, and we were starting to get tired. We decided to take a break at a cool and relaxing cafe.

Pixzel Caffe

Pixzel Caffe is a charming little cafe with a stylish and inviting atmosphere. Situated opposite Wat Mahathat, it offers a delightful selection of beverages, snacks, and even heartier meals for those seeking a more substantial bite.

The restaurant has two floors. The first floor is air-conditioned but can be a bit small if there are a lot of people. The second floor has a larger space, but it can be quite hot.

The sentence is already in English and does not require translation.

For those who come to pay respects to the Buddha and feel hot, and want to sit in a cool air-conditioned room to find a drink to cool down, this place is perfect. There are also many cool corners for taking hipster photos.

National Museum Nakhon Si Thammarat

After taking a break to cool off in the air conditioning, we continued our journey to visit the National Museum of Nakhon Si Thammarat.

This museum is the first national museum in the southern region.
It houses and collects many important archaeological and art objects from the south.
It is a very interesting museum for those who want to see ancient artifacts.

This museum houses a collection of antique ceramics, cups, and household items, offering a glimpse into the lifestyles and customs of people in ancient times.

After a tiring day of exploring, it's time to check into our accommodation.

Based on observations at various tourist attractions, the number of visitors on weekdays is...

The crowd was relatively small and the transportation was convenient, allowing us to travel quickly between each location.

And no air conditioning in the tour to various places, walking to enjoy the view is very chill. This trip…

The first day of our trip, we stayed in the city center of Nakhon Si Thammarat at the Twin Lotus Hotel.

The check-in area and lobby are very spacious.

The room comes with all the amenities you need, including free Wi-Fi. However, the room itself is looking a bit dated.

For dinner tonight, we are eating at Kruanai Nang Restaurant.

This is a Southern Thai restaurant with an authentic taste. It has spacious seating, with both air-conditioned and open-air zones.

The dishes I ordered were delicious, but some were so spicy that I couldn't eat them. 555

In addition to offering traditional Southern Thai cuisine, the venue also features nightly shadow puppet performances.

The next morning, we started our day with breakfast outside the hotel.

The Delectable Delights of Khanom Jeen Mueang Kon: A Culinary Journey to Nakhon Si Thammarat

Nestled amidst the verdant landscapes of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Khanom Jeen Mueang Kon stands as a testament to the city's rich culinary heritage. This iconic dish, renowned for its vibrant flavors and diverse textures, has captivated the hearts and palates of locals and visitors alike.

Today, we embark on a gastronomic adventure to Khanom Jeen Mueang Kon Rim Khlong, a restaurant nestled along the serene banks of the canal in Tha Rai district. Surrounded by lush greenery and the gentle murmur of flowing water, this establishment offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

As we step inside, the aroma of freshly prepared curry wafts through the air, whetting our appetites for the culinary delights that await. The restaurant's rustic charm, with its wooden tables and chairs, evokes a sense of authenticity and tradition.

The star of the show, Khanom Jeen Mueang Kon, is a symphony of flavors and textures. The thin, white rice noodles, known as khanom jeen, are meticulously prepared using a time-honored recipe. These delicate strands are then bathed in a rich and flavorful curry, which can vary in spiciness and ingredients depending on personal preferences.

Accompanying the khanom jeen is a vibrant array of side dishes, each adding its own unique dimension to the dish. From the tangy pickled vegetables to the crispy fried shallots, every element plays a harmonious role in creating a truly unforgettable culinary experience.

As we savor each bite, we are transported to a world of culinary delight. The smooth and silky texture of the noodles contrasts beautifully with the crunchy vegetables and the aromatic curry. The symphony of flavors, ranging from sweet to savory to spicy, tantalizes our taste buds and leaves us wanting more.

Khanom Jeen Mueang Kon is more than just a dish; it is a cultural icon that embodies the essence of Nakhon Si Thammarat. Its rich history, unique flavors, and the warm hospitality of its people make it a must-try for any food enthusiast visiting the region.

So, if you find yourself in Nakhon Si Thammarat, be sure to embark on a culinary journey to Khanom Jeen Mueang Kon Rim Khlong. Let the tranquil ambiance, the delectable flavors, and the warm hospitality transport you to a world of culinary bliss.

The noodles at this restaurant are quite good, and the highlight is the fried chicken. The crispy chicken pairs perfectly with the noodles.

After breakfast, we headed to the city pillar shrine to pay our respects before driving to Khanom District.

From Muang Nakhon Si Thammarat district, we drove to Khanom district, which took about 1.30 hours. We have arrived in Khanom.

Our first stop is the Nairangsan Garden, also known as the Tasarn Garden, a fish spa.
On the way to Nairangsan Garden, there are cool and trendy photo spots along the entrance.
There are stylish mountain viewpoints similar to the Grand Canyon and a rubber plantation tunnel for taking trendy photos (but we didn't stop...because it was sunny, haha).

Nestled amidst the natural beauty of Khanom District, Suan Nai Rangsan offers a unique and unforgettable experience. Visitors can immerse themselves in the refreshing waters, relax in the tranquil surroundings, and indulge in a rejuvenating fish spa. The natural stream provides a picturesque setting for foot therapy, where small fish gently nibble away at your skin, leaving you feeling refreshed and revitalized. With an affordable entrance fee of 20 baht per person and no time limit, Suan Nai Rangsan is an ideal destination for those seeking a relaxing and rejuvenating escape.

**Ao Kaeo, Khaonon District**

After enjoying the fish spa, we continued our journey to Ao Khaew Phaeng.
Ao Khaew Phaeng is a beach with beautiful sandy beaches and crystal-clear water. Especially on weekdays, it feels like the whole beach is private, with only us around. I think this area is just as beautiful as the Andaman coast, even though we haven't left the island. The water is still incredibly clear and stunning.

Racha Kiri Resort & Spa

For our accommodation in Khanom District, we stayed at the Racha Kiri Resort & Spa.

The accommodation is located on Nai Pela Beach, offering a peaceful and private atmosphere with stunning ocean views.

The room is fully equipped with amenities, including free Wi-Fi and a bathtub for relaxing soaks.

Racha Kiri Resort & Spa is a romantic getaway with a stunning ocean-view infinity pool. Guests can enjoy direct access to the resort's private beach, where they can kayak, snorkel, or simply relax on the sand. The resort also offers a fitness center and spa for those who prefer to stay active during their stay.

Summer Beach Khanom

For dinner tonight, we had the pleasure of dining by the sea at Summer Beach Khanom, located on Haad Na Dan beach. The atmosphere was truly exceptional, offering a delightful experience of enjoying the sea breeze, admiring the ocean view, listening to soothing music, and having direct access to the beach.

The food here is delicious. You can relax and enjoy delicious food. It is definitely a must-try restaurant in Khanom. However, the price of food and drinks is not cheap. But I think it's worth it for the atmosphere and taste of the food.

The next morning of our trip to Khanom, we had a scheduled boat trip to see the pink dolphins. This is another popular activity in Khanom that visitors should not miss.

During the dolphin watching cruise, you will also witness the wonders of Pancake Rock, a rock formation over 260 million years old. This unseen gem is a stunning sight along the coastline.

As we sailed, we prayed to catch a glimpse of dolphins.

The purpose of this boat trip is to visit the natural habitat of dolphins.

This makes it impossible to determine whether we will meet again, and this is the charm of nature.

Despite our long journey, we haven't encountered any dolphins yet. Could it be that we're not destined to see them today?

Screaming... There it is!! The dolphin is here... But wait a minute, I didn't catch it on camera. 555+

The photos may not be as beautiful and satisfying as the real thing, as it is not easy to photograph dolphins in their natural habitat.

The unpredictable nature of dolphins' movements, including their surfacing and leaping patterns, makes it impossible to anticipate their trajectory.

However, I must say that if you have the opportunity, you should definitely come. It's amazing...

After watching the dolphins, we traveled to Koh Nuai Nok to pay respects to Luang Pu Thuat, the walker on the water.

and marvel at the freshwater spring in the middle of the sea, which has been the subject of legend for over 100 years.

This trip to see the pink dolphins was organized by Khanom Fishing Tour, which offers both pink dolphin watching tours and one-day trips to explore Khanom.

After returning from a pink dolphin watching cruise, we stopped for lunch at Khrua Khun Lee.

**Khrua Khun Lee** is located on Khao Khao Beach in Khanom District.
The restaurant is not very large, but the seating is spacious and comfortable.
The menu offers a wide variety of Thai and international dishes.

The Thai dishes are made from recipes that have been passed down through generations,
giving you the feeling of eating a home-cooked meal.

  • I have used a simple and short tone of voice, as requested.

The restaurant's signature dish is the black squid stir-fry, a rare find (highly recommended).
The taste is truly extraordinary, and it's cooked to perfection.
Another must-try is the sour curry, which features fresh fish from the nearby port.
The curry is made without vegetables, allowing the fresh fish to take center stage.

After lunch, before heading back,
we stopped by a newly opened viewpoint, the Khao Thewada Viewpoint in Khanom District.

At this point, we can see a beautiful panoramic view of the sea and the mountains.
This is another spot that I would recommend visiting, because the view from above is stunning.
I came here on a weekday, so there was no one around. Haha, it was so relaxing.

Drive a little further and you will reach the Four Corners Viewpoint. Here, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Khanom town. If you come in the evening, you will also be treated to a stunning sunset. Come and see for yourself!

And then it was time to go back… Time of happiness always passes quickly.

On the way back, we didn't miss out on grabbing a bite to eat again... Huh!! You're still not full? Haha!
The menu Stir-fried basil with mushrooms is a healthy food with mushrooms and tofu that are high in protein
and low in cholesterol. Served with brown rice.

Our trip has come to an end, and it feels like 3 days and 2 nights were not enough to explore everything.
There are still many places we haven't visited.
Nakhon Si Thammarat Province is another interesting destination, offering mountains, waterfalls, beaches, and beautiful culture. The food is also amazing, so be prepared to gain some weight on this trip.

If you're looking for a getaway to Nakhon Si Thammarat - Khanom, we highly recommend it.
Take a break from work and visit during the weekdays like us, and you'll see how wonderful it is to travel on weekdays.
With fewer crowds, you'll enjoy more comfort and less congestion, plus accommodation and travel costs are more affordable.

In conclusion, we would like to express our gratitude to all of our fellow travelers who have followed our review. We hope that this review will be beneficial for those who enjoy eating and traveling like us. Don't let time pass you by without starting to do what you want to do. Make time for yourself and your loved ones, and embark on a journey to experience nature together.
