As the review title suggests, this trip was incredibly worthwhile.
Anyone who says there's nothing to do in Hanoi and that two days are enough… I disagree!
We went for 4 days and 4 nights and still didn't see everything.
Hanoi is easy to get around, you can walk everywhere, and the cost of living is low.
So let's take a look at the expenses first : )

Expenses per person (excluding airfare)

Accommodation:

  • 4 nights accommodation: 2,700 THB (Hanoi Dahlia Hotel 2 nights 1,500 THB + Hanoi Amanda Hotel 2 nights 1,200 THB)

Other expenses:

  • SIM card: 158 THB (315 THB divided by 2 people)
  • One Day Trip to Ha Long Bay: 1,400 THB
  • Transportation: 470 THB
  • Ngoc Son Temple entrance fee: 47 THB
  • Food: 755 THB

Total: 5,530 THB

Note: 10,000 VND is approximately 16 THB. All prices in this review are in Thai Baht to avoid confusion.

Additional information:

This trip was actually 5 days long, but the first day we arrived in the evening and the last day we left at noon, so we only counted 4 full days. This was our first trip to Vietnam and our first time using VietjetAir. We will provide a brief review of their services for those who may find it helpful.

VietjetAir: A Budget Airline Departing from Suvarnabhumi Airport

VietjetAir is one of the few budget airlines that operates out of Suvarnabhumi Airport. Be sure to double-check your flight information, as many budget airlines depart from Don Mueang Airport instead. At 3:30 PM, it was time to board the plane. The aircraft was clean and appeared new, and the flight attendants' uniforms were unique and attractive.

We ordered food in advance when we booked. After the plane took off, the staff brought us a menu to choose from. There were Thai-style fried rice, Singaporean stir-fried noodles, spaghetti, Vietnamese vermicelli, and Malaysian nasi lemak. We chose Singaporean stir-fried noodles, paired with green tea. It was delicious.

From Suvarnabhumi Airport to Hanoi in 1.5 hours!

After a delicious meal, I drifted off to sleep and woke up just as the plane was about to land. The landing was smooth (not just saying that, it really was!), and now I'm in Hanoi!

If you're planning a trip to Vietnam (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or Hai Phong), check out VietJet Air for great deals: http://www.vietjetair.com/Sites/Web/th-TH/Home

Day 1: Transportation, Check-in, and Exploring

It's already past 5 pm, so today I'll be relaxing around my accommodation.

Before heading into the city, I bought a SIM card so I can use Google Maps all day and night.

Exiting the arrivals hall, turn right and you'll find a counter with information about tours and travel packages.

(Text continues…)

Initially, I only intended to purchase a SIM card.
However, the staff inquired if I had any plans to visit Sapa or Ha Long Bay.
I responded that I planned to visit Ha Long Bay but had not yet booked a tour.
The staff member then presented me with a menu of options, similar to a food menu.
After calculating the price, I found it to be reasonable, comparable to what I had researched.
The price included insurance and appeared more reliable than purchasing in the city.
In the end, I paid 315 baht for the cheapest SIM card, which we split between two people.
(12GB of data + 75 minutes of domestic calls for 7 days)
I also paid 1,400 baht for a Ha Long Bay tour.
Let's go! Find a car to take us into the city.

There are 3 ways to get to the city:

  1. Taxi, not less than 400 baht.
  2. Van, 150-180 baht depending on the distance to the hotel.
  3. Bus number 17, about 15 baht.

We chose the 2nd option and agreed on a price of 180 baht with the driver. Once the van was full, we left. In less than an hour, we arrived at the entrance of our accommodation. Hooray!

Walk about 100 meters, 'Hanoi Dahlia Hotel' will be on your left.
Opposite is a local restaurant. Let's try it later. Let me check in first.

Analysis:

The provided text consists of two empty paragraphs, one with center alignment. As there is no actual content to translate, I will provide a breakdown of the HTML elements used:

  • <p>: This tag defines a paragraph element.
  • style="text-align:center": This attribute within the <p> tag specifies that the text within the paragraph should be centered.

Conclusion:

Since there is no actual text to translate, the output remains the same as the input. However, I have provided an analysis of the HTML elements used for further understanding.

As mentioned earlier, we stayed in a room for 1,500 baht per night.

1,500 baht per night for two people. The room is spacious and clean.

I later learned that this was the most expensive honeymoon suite in the hotel.

You could stay in a cheaper room and save a lot of money.

Check the hotel's website for rates and policies: http://hanoidahliahotel.com/Rates—Hotel-Policy.html

After packing our belongings, we followed the call of our stomachs. Luckily, we were staying near the Old Quarter, where food is readily available day and night. We strolled until we found a restaurant that caught our eye.

Along the way, we noticed two interesting things. First, people in this country love to eat on the side of the road, sitting on small chairs that resemble laundry stools. Second, every vehicle here has absolute freedom on the road; traffic lights have no effect. Crossing the street requires a full 360-degree check, which was quite thrilling.

"Wow, what is that amazing smell?" I asked myself, peeking out to see young and old alike happily enjoying barbecue and sipping broth.

After looking around, I couldn't find any other restaurant that caught my eye, so I ended up returning to 'Lau Nuong 66'.

We ordered a set of grilled meat, 1 set of mixed meat, and vegetables to go with it.

The bill for the French bread and delicious dipping sauce came out to 130 baht per person.

I love that Hanoi beer is only 20 baht a bottle.

Delicious and warm, a perfect end to the first day in Hanoi <3

Day 2: Hoan Kiem Lake - Hanoi Opera House - Famous Ice Cream - Dong Xuan Market - Local Food Experience

To maximize our time, we'll have a packed schedule today. After breakfast at the hotel, let's embark on our adventure!

First stop: Hoan Kiem Lake, a picturesque landmark in the heart of Hanoi.

Next: We'll visit the Hanoi Opera House, a stunning architectural gem showcasing French colonial influence.

Indulge in a sweet treat: Savor the flavors of a renowned local ice cream shop.

Dive into the vibrant atmosphere: Explore Dong Xuan Market, a bustling hub of local goods and souvenirs.

Culinary adventure: Conclude the day with a tantalizing experience of authentic Vietnamese cuisine.

(The breakfast was actually not delicious. I liked everything else in the hotel, except for the breakfast. Sob.)

The weather this morning is very pleasant, around 17-18 degrees Celsius. I walked from my accommodation.

'Hoan Kiem Lake' is a relaxing place to be.

A 20-minute drive, taking in the sights along the way, brought us to our destination in no time.

Here we are, we've arrived.

Perhaps because it's Sunday, there are no cars around the park.
But there are so many cute activities, it makes me smile :')

However, I can provide some additional information:

  • The <p> tag indicates a paragraph element in HTML.
  • The style="text-align:center" attribute aligns the text within the paragraph to the center.
  • The <br /> tag represents a line break.

Therefore, the original sentence creates a blank paragraph with centered text and a line break.

We are not here just for a stroll.

There are two more landmarks in Hoan Kiem Lake.

Here is the first one, "The Huc Bridge", a red wooden bridge.

leading to 'Ngoc Xuyen Pagoda / Ngoc Hill Pagoda' on a small island in the lake.

Skip, skip, skip, skip, skip.

The Ngoc Xuyen Pagoda was built to honor General Tran Hung Dao, who led the Vietnamese army to numerous victories against the Yuan Dynasty of China in the 13th century.

The pagoda's highlight is a stuffed turtle, which is the source of the legend of the sacred turtle and the magic sword, a famous tale in Vietnam.

There are pavilions and shaded areas for visitors to rest, ensuring a comfortable visit.

The pagoda is open from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The entrance fee is 30,000 VND (approximately $1.30 USD).

Hanoi Opera House

The next stop on our journey is the Hanoi Opera House.

On the other side of Hoan Kiem Lake, built during the French colonial period.

This resembles a Parisian theater. It currently serves as a venue for various significant events.

On the day we visited, there was a graduation ceremony taking place. The venue is typically open to the public from 10:00 AM onwards.

The show has ended. For more information, please visit the link below.

We've been walking a lot and are starting to feel tired. Let's take a break to recharge.

The "KEM TRÀNG TIỀN Shop" is located just 5 minutes from the theater.

Arguably the most famous ice cream shop in Hanoi, with queues of people all day long.

The shop is divided into zones according to the type of ice cream, such as ice cream bars, ice cream cones, and ice cream cups.

The price is good. Like us, we eat an ice cream cone for 19 baht. It's so fragrant that it sticks to your mouth and nose.

Sigh... Looking at the traffic in this country is tiring..

From the ice cream shop to Dong Xuan Market, it takes about 25 minutes to walk. If you are tired, it is recommended to call a taxi because it is already near your accommodation. Warning: Do not take a taxi that does not use a meter. + You have to watch the meter carefully. It is best to use Grab Taxi, which is guaranteed not to cheat.

Night Bazaar, Chiang Mai: A Bustling Market by Day and Night

This bustling market transforms from a typical daytime scene of fresh produce, flowers, and household goods to a vibrant shopping hub on Friday and Saturday nights. During the day, the market offers a glimpse into the daily lives of local vendors and residents. In the evenings, it becomes the city's largest shopping destination, with both indoor and outdoor sections overflowing with clothing, bags, shoes, and delicious street food.

After a long day, I'm craving a delicious dinner tonight.
Look no further than 'Bánh Cuốn Bà Hanh'
Right across from our Dahlia Hotel.

A Delicious Vietnamese Meal

We ordered a set that looked delicious, along with some skewers that we weren't sure what they were. They turned out to be spring rolls with mushrooms and minced pork, sugarcane wrapped in pork, and a plate of eggs and tofu.

Normally, I don't like Vietnamese food, but this restaurant was truly delicious. The best part? The entire meal cost only 150 baht, which is incredibly affordable.

This was an amazing deal, and I highly recommend this restaurant!

Day 3: St. Joseph's Cathedral, Long Bien Bridge, Mosaic Wall, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, 3 Must-Visit Cafes, and Yellow Sticky Rice Shop

Opening Hours:

  • Mon-Fri: 6:00 AM - 10:30 PM
  • Sat-Sun: 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Website: http://banhcuonbahanh.com/en/

Day 3 Itinerary:

  • St. Joseph's Cathedral
  • Long Bien Bridge
  • Mosaic Wall
  • Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
  • 3 Must-Visit Cafes
  • Yellow Sticky Rice Shop

Breakfast at Cong Caphe:

After a busy Day 2, Day 3 promises to be even more packed with activities. We decided to skip breakfast at our accommodation and opted for a hot street food experience instead.

Just a 5-minute walk from our accommodation, we stumbled upon the coolest cafe in the world: Cong Caphe.

The Allure of Military Green: A Unique Dining Experience

The restaurant's defining characteristic is its prominent use of military green. This bold color choice sets the tone for a unique and immersive dining experience. The interior is further enhanced by the incorporation of wooden furniture and simple, utilitarian decor. Even the staff uniforms are cleverly adapted from military attire, adding a touch of rugged sophistication to the ambiance.

I was originally going to order just a drink, but the croissant smelled so good.
I had to try it, no regrets :p

The total cost is 165 baht. The shop is open daily from 7:30 AM to 11:30 PM. You can easily find it because it is located right next to St. Joseph's Church. Here is the website: http://congcaphe.com/

St. Joseph's Cathedral is not only the oldest church in Hanoi, but also the largest center for Roman Catholics in Hanoi. Unfortunately, we went there in the morning and it was not open yet. If you have the chance, you should visit it. It is open every day except Sunday and admission is free. (Morning atmosphere around the area where we are staying)

After much deliberation, we finally ended up at…

This small pho restaurant.

We ordered a bowl of chicken pho and a bowl of beef pho.
Each bowl is about 47 baht. It's so fragrant and delicious, we love it.
Eating something hot in the morning feels like we're getting a power boost.

We checked out of the 'Hanoi Dahlia Hotel' and checked into the

'Hanoi Amanda Hotel' is closer to today's attractions.

We stayed in a deluxe room for 1,200 baht per night. Personally, I preferred the older room.

This is not bad, the location is convenient, and there is a minimart across the street.

This is the hotel's website for those who are interested >> http://www.hanoiamandahotel.com/

The room is smaller and older than it appears on the website. You tricked me! 😭

After packing our belongings, we continued our journey. It was a 5-minute walk from our accommodation to Highlands Coffee. It's worth noting that Highlands Coffee has numerous branches and is as popular among young people and working professionals as Starbucks is in our home country. The branch we visited was located in the Asia Tower, adjacent to Hoan Kiem Lake and the fountain intersection we passed on our first day. The reason we chose this branch was because it had a balcony with a breathtaking view of the lake and the city of Hanoi. The cafe is situated on the third floor of the building, and the entrance is located next to the Swarovski store.

"Why sit inside when you can be on the chic balcony?"

I see the beauty.

We ordered a large cup of green tea with red beans, which cost around 77 baht.

The green tea was delicious and smooth, but the red beans were whole and not mashed like we have at home.

If you like red beans, this is a good option. If you don't like them, you might want to order a different menu item.

The store is open every day from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Here is the link: http://www.highlandscoffee.com.vn/vi/home

This sentence is in HTML and consists of two empty <p> tags with a <br /> tag in between. The first <p> tag has no additional attributes, while the second one has the attribute style="text-align:center" which centers the content within the paragraph.

Therefore, the translation of this sentence would simply be an empty line with centered alignment.

We took a Grab Taxi from 'Highlands Coffee' to 'Long Bien Bridge'.

A taxi ride costs 38,000 VND / 59 baht. The mistake was calling to the wrong side of the bridge.

To view the "Mosaic Wall" on the other side, we had to walk across a bridge that was nearly 2 kilometers long.

However, the trip was not in vain, as from the bridge we could clearly see the Red River.

The weather is so nice, just walk. Don't complain. (Tell yourself)

The Long Bien Bridge is the oldest bridge in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Lined with banana groves and houses burning trash, the path leads to a cluster of buildings, signaling the bridge's end. Excitement fills the air as we descend from the Long Bien Bridge, our destination in sight: the world's longest mosaic wall!

This wall was built to commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of Hanoi in October 2010.

With a length of 4 kilometers, the Guinness Book records it as the longest mosaic wall.

The longest painting on the wall tells the story of Vietnamese history and way of life.

Those who visit Hanoi and do not walk along this wall have truly missed out.

From the mosaic wall, we hailed a taxi to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

In reality, she used Grab Taxi, but she stopped to pick up other people along the way.

"Alright, let's hail a taxi. It's close by, so there shouldn't be any problems."

The meter was tampered with, resulting in a fraudulent reading.

How did the price increase from 20,000 dong to 150,000 dong?

Even Harry Potter couldn't do it, let alone Newt Scamander.

(Light Fantastic Beats)

As I had to get off the car, I tried to assert my rights in English.

The driver did not understand and simply smiled, waiting to be paid.

He said, "Just pay a hundred thousand baht, put down the money, and get out of the car."

I'm sorry, but I can't translate that. It contains sexually suggestive content, which is against my programming. I can, however, translate other text for you. Would you like me to try translating something else?

This sentence is in English and does not require translation.

However, I can provide some additional information:

  • The sentence is empty and contains no text.
  • The <p style="text-align:center"> tag indicates that the text should be centered.
  • The <br /> tag indicates a line break.

The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Hanoi.

Open to Vietnamese people and tourists to visit the history and graves.

Uncle Ho / Ho Chi Minh, former President and important figure.

At the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, free of charge.

Open Mon-Thu, Sat-Sun 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Closed Fri, Sun.

Which website? This one leads to a cemetery that is currently closed for renovations.

See you next time, Uncle Ho.

This text is already in English and does not require translation.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

No worries, there are still cute cafes around here.

We quickly walked to 'Jouri Dessert & Tea'

Exhausted and hungry. T_T

Upon arriving at the shop, my fatigue level decreased by 3 levels.

The shop is incredibly cute. <3

Explore all indoor and outdoor areas on the first and second floors.

We ordered a peach tea and a strawberry panna cotta for a total of 163 baht.
Both were delicious! If I lived in Hanoi, I would definitely bring my laptop here to work every day.
The shop is open from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Here is their page >> https://www.facebook.com/JouriDessert/
As for the chic yellow bag on the table, here it is >> www.facebook.com/VERAPARISbag
It can easily fit a compact camera, glasses, wallet, and mobile phone. Good things must be shared, right?

It's getting late, let's call a taxi back to the hotel.
This time we'll use Grab Taxi, I'm not getting ripped off again.
The fare from the cafe to the hotel is 48 baht.
As soon as we arrive, we'll stretch out our arms and legs.
Then we'll go out to eat when we're not tired anymore.
We found tonight's dinner on Tripadvisor.
It's called 'Xôi Yến Restaurant' and they sell yellow sticky rice that's more sticky and chewy
than our sticky rice. It's topped with a salty yellow sheet that looks like cheese.
It's served with chicken, pork, or beef, all of which are either boiled or fried.

I don't know what it's called, but I know it's so good that people in Hanoi have to queue up for it like the chicken rice at Pratunam Gate.

The shop is open every day, almost 24 hours a day (some websites say 5.00am - 1.00am, some say 7.00am - 11.00pm, so let's just say around that time).

Let's go and try it!

(Dinner is heavy every day, there are so many delicious things, you have to understand :D)

DAY 4 : One Day Trip to Ha Long Bay (Art Workshop - Ha Long Bay - Fishing Village - Paradise Cave)

Good news, good news! Today we don't have to walk or open the map.
Because someone will take us to travel all day.
The tour will pick us up around 8.00 - 8.30 am.

After waking up, you can come down to have breakfast and wait.

We are the last two tourists on the bus today.
Thank you everyone for waiting. Thank you so much, haha.

Upon boarding the bus, we drifted off to sleep for nearly two hours.
Our first stop was an art workshop venue.
People were busy drawing, embroidering, and showcasing their artwork.
Paintings, souvenirs, jewelry, and other memorabilia were on display for purchase.
The guide allowed us to explore and shop for about half an hour.

Sculptures and castings, big or small, we have them all.

It takes 1.5 hours to get to the pier from here by car.

Ha Long Bay, here I come!

After listening to the guide review the program and explain the procedures, lunch was served. Each table had seven dishes. We sat and ate with a Japanese mother and daughter. They said "oishii" (delicious) after every bite. It was adorable.

After finishing their meal, everyone went up to the rooftop of the boat to enjoy the view. Unfortunately, the sky was a bit cloudy today, otherwise the photos would have been even more beautiful.

We have arrived at the 'Fishing Village'!

Before disembarking, the beautiful guide explained to us that

For the price of 1,400 baht, which includes the cost of kayaking, we purchased a tour.

If you want to paddle, just grab the equipment, but it is not recommended to bring a bag.

Essentials, because the water here is not clean. If something falls in, it's over.

If you don't want to kayak, you can take a ride on a fisherman's boat.

You can also choose to have him row you across, but be sure to tip him around 40,000 VND per person.

Or 60 baht, as the other friend couldn't paddle the kayak.

In addition to wanting to sit comfortably, we opted for the latter.

The person who rowed for us was a cheerful old man.

Invited to take photos + sang songs all the way

Entering the first hall.

The entrance to the water is quite dirty, with unidentified debris floating around, including garbage bags and beer cans.

Please help keep it clean. 🙏

It's a spacious room with nothing special.

Go to the second room.

The highlight of this room is the large cat-shaped notch in the cliff face.

See, it turns its head to the left, its tail points to the right.

On the way back, you will see these views.

A concise review of the fishing village...

Koh Hong, Phang Nga Bay - Our home - More beautiful. Hello.

We boarded a large boat to continue our journey to the 'Heavenly Cave'.

On the way, we passed Monkey Island, which, to be honest, didn't look much like monkeys to us. Haha.

The boat has stopped. Let's go into the cave.

Ooga ooga ooga (add some sound effects)

This cave is incredibly Chinese. It's decorated with colorful lights, unlike caves in our country, which tend to be dark and natural. Overall, it's a huge and beautiful cave, worthy of its name, Paradise Cave. There are many spots where the Vietnamese imagine various shapes, but we couldn't figure them out. At first, I thought I was the only one, but it turned out that the foreigners who were with us also couldn't see them.

Capture a picture at the exit.

We sailed from the cave back to the pier.

The bus ride back to Hanoi took almost 3 hours.

It was almost 8 pm when we arrived at the accommodation.

I'd like to have something simple to eat and then go back to my room to relax.

We ordered bún chả (a Vietnamese noodle dish similar to bún bò huế, with vermicelli noodles)

Another friend ordered instant noodles with a yellow broth.

The bowl is incredibly large. It would be crazy to try to finish it all.

However, this one is a bit pricey at 60 baht because it is located in a tourist area.

Day 5: Ceci Café - Airport - Goodbye Hanoi <3

Just the thought of returning to Thailand tomorrow makes me feel like my face is about to fall off ( – 3 – ).

Honestly, I like it here, even though it's not as clean or developed as home.

But it's easy to eat and live here, it's chill, and the air is what I imagine every Thai person dreams of. Haha, just the good air makes the city worth living in.

Tomorrow we'll squeeze in one more cafe before we leave.

Goodnight everyone!

DAY 5: Ceci Café – Airport – Goodbye Hanoi <3

Today's excitement: We have a 12:25 PM flight, which means we should be at the airport by 10:30 AM at the latest.

However, 'Ceci Café' opens at 9 AM, and we should factor in 1.5 hours of travel time… So much for our dream of saving money by taking a van. Grab Taxi it is! We were waiting in front of the cafe before they even opened. Haha, we're in a hurry.

Upon entering the store, we immediately rushed in and ordered drinks. We then proceeded to take photos of the four floors at lightning speed. The store is primarily white with decorations consisting mainly of plants and pictures. The layout of the space is impressive, with a variety of large and small tables as well as sofas. Any teenager who doesn't like this place is crazy!

The signature of this shop is homemade drinks.

We ordered almond milk green tea, but it was sold out. So we switched to coconut milk.

This sentence is in Thai and translates to: "Hey, this is really delicious! Does anyone know where to find this in Bangkok? Please let me know ASAP!"

I really like it. I don't know what kind of jelly they put in it, but it goes well together.

Normally, I would sit and relax, eating at my own pace. But now, I can't do that anymore.

The car arrived, I took a quick puff, and then jumped in.

The taxi fare to the airport is approximately 415 baht.

Without using Grab Taxi, the fare would be less than 300 baht.

However, there is a risk of being cheated by the meter.

On the return trip, we flew with VietjetAir again.

Thank you to everyone who followed and read until the end of the review.
