From now on, "Chai Nat" is definitely not just a passing city… Today, the admin had the opportunity to participate in the filming of the Thai tourism program of Amarin TV 34, "Chuen Jai Thailand". We were taken to various tourist attractions in Chai Nat province, both those we had visited before and those we never knew existed.

And if someone asks what to do in Chai Nat, what to see? Come see the birds at the bird park, of course (not anymore ^_^).

Few people know that this passing city is a place where the ancient woven fabrics of Ban Nein Kham are sold and produced. These hand-woven silk fabrics are exquisitely crafted, beautiful, and have vibrant patterns and colors. There is a wide variety to choose from, including tie-dye silk, "tin chok" fabric, and plain fabric. It is also a place where beautifully crafted "khit" and "khwan" pillows are produced. Another amazing thing is that Chai Nat is a major producer of souvenirs, miniature Thai houses, and water hyacinth products, such as cute bags, shoes, tissue holders, baskets, beautiful furniture, and strangely shaped lamps that we have seen in beautiful hotels and wondered where they were bought. Well, they are here… Come and see what Chai Nat has to offer.

The first stop of the day is "Chai Nat Bird Park", a landmark of the province. Currently, the park houses the largest birdcage in Asia, covering an area of 26 rai. Various bird species roam freely within the cage, creating a natural habitat. In addition to the diverse birdlife, the park offers several other attractions, including: an exhibition hall showcasing fish species from the Chao Phraya River basin, including rare and endangered species; a glass tunnel featuring giant freshwater fish, including the Mekong giant catfish, also known as the "freshwater shark"; a planetarium with a state-of-the-art projection room; and an egg museum housing a collection of eggs from various bird species. Admission fees are 30 baht for adults, 15 baht for children, and free for senior citizens. Notably, the park also boasts the "Space Water Park," arguably the most affordable water park in the region. Entry to the water park costs an additional 30 baht for adults and 15 baht for children, offering all-day access. With its diverse attractions and affordable prices, Chai Nat Bird Park promises a full day of entertainment and education.

Open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission fees for Thai citizens are 30 baht for adults and 15 baht for children. Admission fees for foreign visitors are 100 baht for adults and 50 baht for children.

After leaving the bird park, we rushed to the "Chao Phraya Dam" to watch the sunset in the evening... The Chao Phraya Dam is the first large water storage dam built in Thailand. If you drive north, you will definitely pass it. In the evening, fishermen will come to fish all over the front of the dam. You will see many long-tailed boats of fishermen driving against the current to catch fish. And on the top of the dam, there are also tourists and cyclists who come to enjoy the view and watch the sunset. Let me tell you, the sunset here is really beautiful. Don't miss it when you come to Chai Nat!!!

This morning, before we head to Aoi's house, we'll take you to see the villagers harvesting rice. The rice fields are a beautiful golden yellow, and the morning atmosphere is refreshing, something you don't easily find in the capital.

"The Ooy Community: Transforming Water Hyacinth into Sustainable Art"

The Ooy community in Sarrpraya district is renowned for its innovative use of water hyacinth in weaving. While many perceive water hyacinth as a nuisance and an invasive aquatic weed, the Ooy community has transformed it into a source of creativity and economic empowerment.

Through meticulous craftsmanship, the community members have crafted a diverse range of products, including stylish bags, shoes, baskets, and even furniture such as sofas, benches, and lamps. These products are not only aesthetically pleasing but also remarkably affordable, making them accessible to a wider audience.

The intricate process of transforming water hyacinth into usable materials requires dedication and patience. From harvesting the plants by boat to drying, dyeing (when necessary), and weaving, each step demands meticulous attention to detail. The community's commitment to sustainability is evident in their utilization of recycled materials and their focus on eco-friendly practices.

The Ooy community has established a formal group structure, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among its members. This collective approach has enabled them to develop innovative designs and production techniques, leading to increased employment opportunities and income generation within the community.

The Ooy community serves as an inspiring example of how resourcefulness and ingenuity can transform a seemingly worthless material into a valuable asset. Their dedication to sustainable practices and community empowerment paves the way for a brighter future, not only for the Ooy community but also for the environment as a whole.
