Hello everyone! This is my first post on READ ME, so please take care of me!
Here's a glimpse of Doi Mon Jong through our lens, captured on December 10th and 11th, 2016.
"If you don't book it, we will!" - Doi Mon Jong
Let's begin!
Day 1
The highlight of this place is the golden grassland, with cool air and warm sunshine.
To get there, from Hod district, turn left at the Hod district intersection onto Highway 108. Pass through Ob Luang National Park, the Bo Luang checkpoint, and Ban Kiew Lom (a total of 39 kilometers). Turn left at Ban Kiew Lom towards Omkoi district on Highway 1099 (50 kilometers). The total distance from Hod to Omkoi is approximately 89 kilometers. From Omkoi district, drive to the Doi Mon Jong Tourist Service Center or the Musoe village (approximately 40 kilometers). Then, prepare your belongings and board a 4WD vehicle for another 15 kilometers (rental fee: 2500-3000 baht per round trip) to reach the starting point of the hike. The hike to the top of the mountain is about 5-6 kilometers. The Tourist Service Center will arrange for porters and 4WD vehicles. You need to inform the center about your requirements in advance. Stay tuned for more!
You have to go, no matter what. This place is only open from the end of the year to February.
If you come alone, you can, but you'll probably end up crying. Haha.
The walking distance is not too short, not too long, just 6 kilometers. Easy.
Mon Jong is considered an easy level of trekking (comforting myself), but it's still tiring. 55
It took about 3 hours to walk, with some stops along the way.
The time it takes depends on the individual's endurance. Our group of 5 people walked, talked, laughed, and panted.
It was both fun and tiring. My legs were getting bigger, so I was secretly pale at the end of the kilometers.
But when we reached our destination, we forgot all about the fatigue.
We arrived!
We started walking from the starting point at around 1:30 pm and arrived at around 4:00 pm.
There are no amenities on the top, such as accommodation, shops, toilets, or showers.
The camping area is located in a zone with trees because the wind is very strong here.
We found a place to pitch our tents and started setting them up.
The air was cool, and we relaxed our bodies.
Everyone started complaining about their sore calves and legs, but after seeing the view, they forgot about the pain.
As it got dark, we saw the stars. Our cameras and tripods were ready.
But it was impossible.
The fog came in very quickly, and the wind was strong.
The fog covered everything in white. Oh, I'm cold, brother!
Okay, let's go back to the tent. We have a long night ahead of us.
DAY 2
Today, we plan to walk from the camping area to the top of the mountain, also known as Doi Huasing.
"How are you guys doing?"
My calves are tight, you guys!
"Let's go, get up, let's go see the fog."
But because we were hungry or something, we changed our plan from going to see the sea of fog at the top of the mountain to eating instant noodles instead.
We looked at each other in surprise. Are we hungry or what? We looked at our watches. It was 9:00 am. Let's walk, shall we? Let's go and then come back to pack up the tent.
Along the way, who knew that we would encounter such an unexpected sight?
We encountered 160 ascetic monks ascending from Doi Huasingh.
Blessings to them.
..We then continued our trek to the summit.
Mission accomplished!
We did it!
Until we meet again, "Mon Jong".
