Greetings everyone, today we're changing things up and taking you on a tour of the city center. #PhraeReview

This street is the venue for major festivals, such as the Songkran Festival on April 17th of each year, which is a lot of fun. There is also a walking street on this street every first Sunday of the month. Don't forget to visit the walking street... lovely tourists.

Today, we are at Charoen Mueang Road, a historic commercial district of great importance in Phrae Province. It is a hub for economic activity, entertainment venues, accommodation, and a wide variety of shops, including printing houses, restaurants, photo studios, office supply stores, furniture stores, electrical appliances, clothing, shoes, cars, herbal medicines, souvenirs, and local products.

This region is also a cultural melting pot, with indigenous people, Shan, Chinese, and Indian communities living together. Their unique and traditional way of life offers a glimpse into the past.

This zone is a source of great pride for the people of Phrae, and it is a must-visit destination for tourists.

Let's take a look at the review...

Our journey begins at the Gingerbread House Gallery.

It serves as a coffee shop, restaurant, souvenir shop, and also offers accommodation.

It is located at the intersection of Charoen Mueang Road, opposite the Phrae City Police Station.

Before we went for a walk, we ordered the following menu items...

Iced cocoa 60

Iced milk tea 60

Iced Caramel Latte 70

Banana waffle 140

I wonder what's above the shop? It's a pity that there are guests staying here, so we can't walk around and have a look.

The officer's regular spot <3

With full bellies, we set off on our journey.

The first point of interest is the Luang Sri Nakornanukul House, a traditional Chinese gable-roofed house built by a wealthy Chinese merchant. Constructed from teak wood, the house features a gable roof with a front porch, clay tile roofing, and an ornate entrance archway. This house is a unique and beautiful example of Chinese architecture in Thailand.

Across the street, I came across a charming souvenir shop, so I decided to stop in and take a look.

The shop offers a variety of postcards, photographs, and charming souvenirs related to the province of Phrae.

Anyone interested in recommending a shop to friends, Somphop Gallery is a great option.

The other side is also beautiful.

Isn't the old movie poster cool?

We stumbled upon a peculiar cafe with a unique 80s and 90s vibe. The interior was adorned with vintage items, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. The name of the cafe is "Nakhorn Phae Coffee Inka." If you're a fan of classic and retro aesthetics, this cafe is a must-visit.

The owner of the shop was very welcoming and friendly.

Traditional shophouses, constructed from teak and hardwood, are single-story and two-story terraced houses. Their architectural styles range from original Lanna designs to adaptations incorporating Western influences.

Sure, here is the information about Charoen Muang Road. The design is lovely, and there is a wealth of knowledge here. Thank you to the staff at Happy Healthy Spa for providing us with this information.

Let's take a look at the route. Where are we? So we asked the people around us.

There are both outer and inner city songthaews available.

The ancient-style Thep Viman Hotel is still available for everyone to see.

Phrae is a friendly city.

The big bear, I want someone to buy it for me. Hehe.

The suit shop is very classic.

The first vintage coffee shop in Phrae province.

The owner of the shop has a very cool mustache. I'm impressed.

We ordered a cup of lemon tea today. It was delicious and refreshing, and the cup was very large. It only cost 25 baht.

The pork sausage here does not contain flour or preservatives. I was feeling hungry, so I bought a piece to try. The owner of the shop cut it for me and I ate it right there in front of the shop.

The first bite reveals a distinct pork flavor. It's truly delicious. At 30 baht per piece, it's a steal. If you thought that Phrae's pork sausage only comes wrapped in banana leaves, think again. Come and see for yourself.

Additionally, there are tamarind candies available in various flavors and sizes.

Enter the small alley on the opposite side.

This is the last gingerbread house built in Phrae, known as the Wong Phra Thang House. It is a single-story teakwood house raised on high stilts. The design is adapted from the Wong Buri House but is smaller and taller. The roof is a combination of gable and hip, with a front porch. The roof is covered with cement tiles, and the windows are wooden casement windows with interior louvered shutters.

There is a classic old wooden house next door. I have to take a picture of it.

The children are on their way home.

In Phrae, Thailand, three-wheeled vehicles are still a common sight, although their numbers are steadily declining.

The majority of those who still practice this profession are older generations. It would be wonderful to preserve this tradition for future generations to experience.

This evokes memories of my childhood. I wish you and all the cyclists the best of luck. Keep fighting!

Jerin Meung offers a plethora of hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

The city is very livable.

The lifestyle of the local villagers

Adorable puppies are playing with people.

The uncle is trying to do something...

A simple and uncluttered way of life, with few cars and no traffic jams, making it easy to walk around comfortably.

After that, we went to pay respects to the Buddha at Wat Ton Thong.

Make a wish for good luck and fortune.

Beautiful angles.

A motorbike taxi driver is waiting for customers, ready to serve.

After that, we crossed over to take some hipster photos.

Chic and Stylish Signs

This phrase translates to "Chic and stylish signs" in English.

Here's a breakdown of the individual words:

  • ป้ายบอกทาง (pâai bɔ̀ok dtaaŋ) - sign
  • ชิค (chik) - chic, stylish
  • เก๋ (gɛɛh) - cool, trendy

The phrase suggests that the signs in question are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing and fashionable. This could be due to their design, color, or overall style.

Next, cross the street to Oratai Market. This is an evening market that sells a wide variety of ready-to-eat dishes.

Just like the fiery "ตาแดง" chili dip, there's also the "น้ำย้อย" dip that will make you drool. Now I'm hungry again!

I stopped by to buy some barbecue. It's 13 baht per skewer, or 25 baht for two skewers.

We then circled back to our original path. As dusk approached, the light began to fade, and darkness started to set in. We decided to wait and capture the beautiful nighttime lights of Charoen Muang.

The light from the lamp and the headlights of passing cars

The lights in front of the gingerbread house gallery are beautiful. Instead of describing them, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

As dusk settled, hunger pangs began to gnaw at our stomachs. We decided to satiate our cravings at Pratuchai, a renowned culinary hub in Phrae. This vibrant food haven offers a diverse array of delectable options to tantalize every palate, from savory to sweet. From steaming bowls of Yen Ta Fo and succulent meatballs to customizable à la carte dishes, comforting rice porridge, and creamy congee, the choices are endless. For those seeking lighter fare, refreshing salads and delectable ice cream await. Indulge in a classic Thai dessert like "Roti Sai Mai," or savor the creamy goodness of fresh milk. For a heartier option, indulge in a bowl of nourishing fish maw soup. Pratuchai truly caters to every culinary desire, ensuring a satisfying and memorable dining experience.

Provincial Motto of Phrae

The provincial motto of Phrae is:

"เมืองงามน้ำใส ไทลื้อใจงาม ลำนำดอกผักเสี้ยน ถิ่นพระธาตุช่อแฮ"

This translates to:

"City of beauty, clear water, beautiful Tai Lue people, melody of dok phak siaen flowers, land of the Phra That Cho Hae."

This motto highlights the key features of Phrae, including its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and religious significance.

"Teakwood pot, the land of Phra Lo's love"

"Chom Ha Seri Mueang, the legendary goat of the ghost town, the people of Phrae are kind-hearted."

Our trip ends here today. Thank you all for watching.
