For our first trip to Taiwan, our accommodation criteria were: **no dorm rooms, clean, under 1,000 baht per person per night, and most importantly, close to the train station and convenient for finding food.** After searching and reading various reviews, we finally settled on the **'MUIU Capsule Inn'**, which met all our requirements for a budget of **only 700 baht per person per night**!

This small hostel-style hotel offers a variety of room options, including 4-bed, 3-bed, and 2-bed dormitory rooms with bunk beds, as well as private double rooms with queen-size beds. We booked the latter, a "Small Double Room," through Agoda for a total of 2,949.30 baht for 2 nights, including free Wi-Fi but excluding breakfast.

The hotel is located on the 12th floor of a building shared with other businesses, including offices. To find the hotel, exit Taipei Main Station at Exit M5 and follow the directions on Google Maps. The walk should take no more than 10 minutes. Along the way, you will find shopping malls, banks, bubble tea shops, coffee shops, and restaurants. A 24-hour Family Mart is located on the ground floor of the building. The location is excellent and the price is reasonable.

The room we booked was on the 10th floor, room 1002. The room was on the left as soon as we opened the door. The shared trash can was right in front of the room. At night, you might hear some clanging and banging if people are walking in and out and throwing away trash. The "Small Double Room" is only about 4 square meters in size. Of course, the room is very small, but two people can sleep comfortably without feeling cramped. The bed and pillows are very soft and comfortable. There are 4 USB charging ports and 2 plug sockets, which is more than enough for two people. They also provide a small cabinet that can easily hold two carry-on bags. If you bring a large bag, it may be difficult to put it in the room. It is recommended that you take out the necessary items and leave the large bag at the lobby on the 12th floor. This will give you more space in the room to put your shopping items.

Each room lacks an en-suite bathroom and toilet. Residents must use the communal bathrooms located on each floor. However, the 11th floor has the most bathrooms. If you frequently use the bathroom and want to avoid waiting when the bathrooms on your floor are occupied, it is recommended to request a room on the 11th floor.

If you frequently feel thirsty, enjoy watching TV, or want to chat with international friends who are staying here, we recommend requesting the 12th floor. This floor offers a variety of amenities, including TVs, computers, books for leisure reading, a water dispenser, kitchen appliances, a microwave, a shared refrigerator, and a washing machine.

In summary, I was impressed with this hotel. It was good value for money and an excellent base for exploring Taipei, especially for those with a busy sightseeing schedule. I didn't spend much time at the hotel, mainly using it for sleeping and storing my belongings. I even skipped showering every other day (it was only 10 degrees Celsius, so I think it's okay, right?). However, if you're looking for excellent service, daily housekeeping, a full breakfast buffet, or stunning views from your room, you might want to consider other hotels.

Advantages

• Affordable price: 2 nights for 2,949.30 baht, which is only about 700 baht per person per night.
• Free Wi-Fi with strong and consistent signal.
• Excellent location: convenient transportation, easy access to food and shopping, including Ximending district within a 10-minute walk. The area is well-lit and safe.
• Cleanliness: The hotel requires guests to wear slippers provided by the hotel and store their shoes in lockers before entering the rooms and other areas.

Disadvantages

• Shared bathrooms: The shared bathrooms may not be as convenient as private ones.
• Noise: The room we stayed in was close to the entrance, so there was some noise from people coming and going at night.
• Thin walls: The room is not soundproof, so be mindful of noise.
