8:45 AM. I teleported to Bangkok Railway Station, or as we affectionately call it, "Hua Lamphong". This trip marks my first time using the (free) train service... I'm secretly excited... Not excited about getting a free ticket, but excited to ride a train again after my last ride at the age of 14. Oops, I mean... during my 4th year of university (it's been a long time, guys) ^V^

Before your trip, check the train schedule (Bangkok - Hua Hin) on this website: http://www.railway.co.th/checktime/checktime.asp

Proceed to the platform where the train is waiting. If the train has arrived, board and choose a seat. Free tickets do not include assigned seating.

9:20 AM: The first free train departed on time! If you're late, you'll miss the train. 😜

The staff will walk through the carriage to check tickets for each seat (we wondered if it was a free train, so why do they need to check?). We were curious but didn't dare to ask... If anyone takes this train next time, please ask for us. ^V^

During the journey, vendors will sell food and drinks on the train at reasonable prices. This box of stir-fried basil with fried egg costs 20 baht. If you haven't had breakfast, you can have a light snack. (Available only in the morning, not in the evening.)

**10:45 AM** Arrived at **Nakhon Pathom Station**. Walking out of the train station, you can see Phra Pathom Chedi like this. It's very close! ^V^

Our first mission was to find two famous red pork rice shops according to the clues:

1. Nhai Chua Restaurant: Walk along the road in front of the Buddha statue and turn left to the lower market, Soi 3.

2. Hong Ha Seng Restaurant: Located in front of the Buddha statue. After crossing the bridge, turn left and you will find it.

Driven by hunger and laziness, we opted for this specific branch of the Thung Ha Seng restaurant. In addition to their signature crispy pork, roasted pork, duck, and chicken fat rice, they also offer a variety of noodle dishes, satay, and fried fish cakes.

Here it is, our char siu rice, as delicious as its reputation suggests. (For those who can't decide which rice dish to order, you can order the mixed one, which includes crispy pork, char siu, and Chinese sausage for a truly satisfying experience.)

11:30 AM. After a satisfying meal, we embarked on the highlight of our day: paying respects to the Phra Ruang Rojanarit Buddha statue enshrined within the Phra Pathom Chedi. This revered statue resides in the Wat Phra Pathom Chedi Ratchawaramahawihan temple, a significant religious site housing the sacred relics of Lord Buddha.

The temple grounds offer various locations for making merit.

This is the point where the names of the sponsors are inscribed on the robe of the Buddha statue, an annual event.

Those who wish for wealth and good fortune throughout the year should consider offering a silver or gold bell.

Donating will make you as adorable as this little one. ^V^

Those who wish to improve their fortune can make merit by casting candles according to their zodiac sign.

This section features a birthday candle floating... It reminds me of the Loy Krathong festival. ^V^

Behind the Phra Ruang statue, there are small rooms housing a Buddha statue in the Pa Lelaiyok posture (the presiding Buddha for Wednesday) and a smaller Buddha statue. You can offer lotus flowers here.

2:30 PM. We left Phra Pathom Chedi and took a three-wheeled taxi to our next destination, the "Sanam Chan Palace", which is about 2 kilometers from the Phra Pathom Chedi. (The fare for a three-wheeled taxi to Sanam Chan Palace is 80 baht. Tripods are not allowed inside the palace. They must be left at the guard post.

The local mascot here is Big Chicken, and there are a lot of them! They seem to have a particular fondness for golf carts. Every time someone parks, Big Chicken will come and investigate everything from the wheel arches to under the seats and even on top of the roof! ^V^

Our visit to the palace was brief as we had to rush back to catch our train. (The return train departs at 5:20 PM, so please allow ample time to collect your tickets.) There were still many beautiful pavilions that we didn't have time to explore. I hope to return someday and see them all. ^V^
