After visiting Taiwan,
This article will introduce "Luwei," a must-try snack for tourists visiting Taiwan.
💬 "Lu Wei" is a self-service dish, which means that diners can choose the ingredients they want to eat.
🏡 Large Huawei stores offer a wide variety of products, including:
Seaweed (the large, black items being sliced in the picture)
Shrimp roe-stuffed fish balls
🍤
Tofu in all its forms
🍢
Various types of mushrooms
🍄
Various vegetables
🌿 (This dish also includes fern, which I've never tried before.)
The bitter melon here is white, which is quite unusual.
Animal offal
🐄
Bacon (they will weigh it and put it in a bag for us)
🐖
Various types of sausages
💰 The price of each dish at Lou Wei will vary depending on the ingredients you choose.
Standing in front of the Huawei store, I tried to find the prices but couldn't find any signs. So, I just tried ordering something at random.
📝 Ordering Huawei Products
✔️Pick up a small basket in front of the shop with tongs and pick up what you want to eat into the basket and hand it to the shop.
The staff will check the items you have chosen and ensure they are correct. Some items are priced per 2-3 pieces, and the staff may add more to your selection. They will then calculate the total cost. Once you have paid, they will take the items you chose earlier and chop them up. Larger pieces will be cut into smaller ones. Finally, they will blanch the ingredients in a pot of herbal broth.
I observed thin white cloths, similar to those used at Thai stewed noodle shops, being placed in a boiling pot of "Lu Wei" (braised dishes). After boiling for approximately 3 minutes, they were removed and placed on a plate.
The vendor will ask you if you want it spicy or not spicy, and then they will pour the sauce according to the level of spiciness you choose. 🌶 Their sauce is not spicy like in Thailand, it's more like a spicy and salty flavor, like it has mala in it. The chili is only red, like the color of the orange juice at the noodle shop. The taste is strange, it's the first time I've eaten large pieces of seaweed.
⭐️ Rating: 3.5 stars
We enjoy spicy food, but the spiciness here is different from back home. Let's try the local cuisine!
