Whenever I have free time, I have to go on a trip. I can't seem to stay still anymore. If I spend my days off just lying around at home, I'll probably wither away. I'd rather go out and get some sun, even if it burns my skin. It's more exciting.

**From Manao's house, walk to the Phra Pin Klao Pier, hop on the Chao Phraya Express Boat, and head to Pak Khlong Talat Pier for 15 baht.**

Disembarking from the boat, hunger pangs set in as the afternoon progressed. Turning left, we sought out a boat noodle shop with a spicy waterfall broth for 40 baht, enjoying the scenic views of the Chao Phraya River.

**A sneak peek at the Kudeejeen community from a boat noodle shop to whet your appetite for today's trip.**

Full and ready, we walked a little further to the ferry pier, Atsadang Pier. We paid 5 baht each and were on our way.

The view from the boat is also enjoyable.

The Kudi Chin community is a historic community on the Thon Buri side of the Chao Phraya River, dating back to the Thon Buri period. It is also a diverse community with a rich mix of ethnicities, religions, and cultures, making it one of the most vibrant areas in Bangkok. This is evident in the presence of important religious sites such as the Santa Cruz Church, the Kian Ann Keng Shrine, the Wat Kalayanamitr Varamahavihara Temple, and the Bang Luang Mosque, all located along the banks of the Chao Phraya River.

Disembarking from the boat, consider first which way to go, before and after.

The translation is:

Keep walking straight for a bit, looking to the left, and you will find the first check-in point of the Guti Chinese community.

The reviewer's photos show a beautiful model, but her poses seem awkward, as if she has back pain.

Walking through the gate (could this be the name of the Guanyin Temple?)

Check-in Point 2: The Kian An Keng Shrine, or the Guan Yin Shrine

The Kian An Keng Shrine, also known as the Guan Yin Shrine, is a historic Chinese shrine located in the Kudi Chin community. Situated on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in the Thon Buri district of Bangkok, it stands between Wat Kalayanamitr and Wat Santa Cruz.

The Kian An Keng Shrine is one of the oldest shrines in Thon Buri, dating back over a century. Inside the shrine, there are valuable artifacts that have been preserved, including exquisitely carved wood, murals, and a Chinese-style curved tile roof. In 2008, the shrine received an award for outstanding architectural conservation. (Photography is not allowed inside.)

Manaow wants to sit here all day long.

**A glimpse into the artistic life of the Manao community.**

Turn right after exiting the Kian An Keng temple.

The third check-in point is an ancient wooden house that is still preserved and inhabited.

The fourth check-in point is a short walk away, where you will find the Santa Cruz Church, also known as the Santa Cruz Temple or the Chinese Temple.

Santa Cruz Church is a significant religious site located in the old Chinese community of Kudi Chin, on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. The church is situated near the former palace of the Thonburi period under King Taksin the Great. The land was granted by the king to the Portuguese who had helped him fight against the Burmese. The first church building, made entirely of wood, was completed in 1770. However, a major fire in the community in 1833 destroyed the church building completely. It was then rebuilt with brick and mortar. The current church building was constructed in 1916.

To the right of the Church of Santa Cruz, we will continue to the next check-in point.

The fifth check-in point at Soi Kudeejeen 9 features graffiti that highlights the community's unique blend of old-world charm and modern vibrancy.

Meeting the local, Manao had to say hello to her big brother for a bit.

The gate of this community is remarkably beautiful.

Point of interest 6: "Kudi Chin Museum". I could spend hours here. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the food and drinks are delicious. There are three floors and a rooftop terrace. Let me take you on a tour. (Closed every Monday.)

The price is not expensive. You can go up and visit the museum without buying anything.

Walking in hot, I encountered this. It's incredibly delightful. The owner is also lovely. Personally, I'm a big fan of yours, sir.

Ascend to the second floor, remove your shoes, and enter to visit.

This is the 3rd floor.

Come up to the rooftop and enjoy the panoramic view. Manao loves the corrugated iron roof. It reminds her of her childhood when she used to lie down and listen to the sound of the rain falling on it.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude. I have purchased a stylish shirt from the "Ku De Chin Museum" for 200 baht.

Let's move on to the next check-in point.

The 7th check-in point is Thanu Sing, a traditional Thai dessert shop that is a treasure of Thailand. It has a unique and distinctive taste, with a sweet and fragrant aroma and a soft, delicious texture. This shop has been passed down for over 200 years, spanning multiple generations. The signature menu item is the "Farang Ku Ti Jeen" dessert, which is rare and perfect as a souvenir. Each type of dessert here is meticulously crafted using carefully selected ingredients.

The Farang Kudi Chin dessert is a fusion of Chinese and Western influences. The cake itself is of Portuguese origin, while the topping is Chinese, featuring candied winter melon, which is believed to bring peace and happiness to those who consume it.

The shop also has a seating area for you to enjoy your meal. The smell of freshly baked pastries is simply divine.

After walking in circles, turn right to continue.

She continued walking until she passed under the Phra Phuttha Yodfa Bridge.

And through the King Rama IX Park, Bangkok, at the foot of the Phra Pok Klao Bridge.

Turn left at the intersection. Look for this sign. It will lead you to the Masjid Quba, also known as the Red Mosque.

Strolling through the community, the hot weather made me a little cranky and thirsty.

The Red Mosque: A Historic Landmark on the Chao Phraya River

The seventh check-in point is the Kuwati-Islam Mosque, also known as the Red Mosque, situated on the banks of the Chao Phraya River near the Phutthamonthon Bridge. Originally, the Red Mosque served as the office of the Royal Treasury of Somdet Chao Phraya Borom Maha Pichaiyat. Recognizing the need for a place of worship for the local Muslim community, Somdet Chao Phraya donated approximately one rai of land for the construction of the mosque. Construction began in 1859.

Upon entering, I raised my hands in a traditional Thai greeting, seeking permission to explore the site and capture photographs to share with my friends.

It was time to return the same way to pay respects at Wat Kalyanamit Varamahavihara, but by chance, Manao met a local, so she had to stop and tease a little.

The 8th and final check-in point for your visit to the Gudi Chin community.

**Wat Kalyanamit Varamahavihara**, also known as "Wat Kalaya", is situated on the banks of the Chao Phraya River on the Thonburi side, at the mouth of the Bang Koka Yai Canal. **Chao Phraya Nikorn Bodin (Toh Kalyanamitra)** donated his house and purchased additional land nearby to establish the temple in 1825. He then presented it to **King Rama III**, who bestowed the name **Wat Kalyanamit**.

After paying respects to Luang Pho To or Phra Phutthathrirattananayok, Manao was ready to say goodbye to the Chinese community of Kudi Chin.

The return ferry pier is located right in front of the temple.

The Interconnectedness of Diversity: A Look at the 200-Year Harmony of the Guti Chinese Community

The Guti Chinese community stands as a testament to the interconnectedness of diverse cultures. For over 200 years, this community, comprised of individuals of Chinese, Indian, European, and Thai descent, has thrived on the foundation of mutual respect and understanding. This harmonious coexistence serves as a powerful example of how communities can overcome differences in ethnicity, religion, and culture to build a shared future.

**The cost is reasonable. The round-trip fare for the Chao Phraya Express Boat to Pak Khlong Talat Pier is 15 baht, and 30 baht for a round trip.**

**The ferry costs 5 baht for a one-way trip and 10 baht for a round trip. Ferries operate from early morning until almost dusk.**

For only 40 baht, you can swap the mall for a stroll through a 200-year-old community.

**8 must-visit spots for a truly memorable experience. Don't miss out!**
