The recent light rain has brought back memories of our trip to Khao Kho and Phu Thap Boek in early July last year. We'd like to share a brief review of our experience, highlighting the benefits of visiting during the rainy season. The mist and fog were prevalent, and the crowds were significantly smaller compared to the peak season, making it easier to secure accommodations.

Day 1: Bangkok - Khao Kho

We embarked on a journey to witness the legendary "Sea of Mist." Having seen countless photos and heard numerous accounts from friends, we were eager to experience its grandeur firsthand. Our adventure began with a six-hour drive from Bangkok to Khao Kho, relying solely on Google Maps to guide our way. Thankfully, we avoided any mishaps and arrived safely at our destination.

On the first night, we stayed at The Hill Khao Kho, opting for an air-conditioned tent. The price at that time was 1,200 baht per person, including breakfast, which translates to only 600 baht per person. The accommodation is located near the Takhian Ngok Viewpoint, another stunning spot for admiring the mist and sunset.

In the evening, we drove to Khao Takhian Ngoh, about 15 minutes from the hotel, to watch the sunset. This spot is also a great place to camp if you're feeling adventurous. We think it's perfect for those on a budget.

Day 2: Khao Kho - Phu Thap Boek

After breakfast at the resort, we started driving from Khao Kho to Phu Thap Berk. Along the way, we stopped at The Pug Coffee to recharge and refresh ourselves. The cafe is decorated with pug dogs, and the seating area offers a view of the trees and mountains, creating a relaxing and green atmosphere.

The interior features approximately ten tables and offers a variety of beverages, including tea, coffee, fresh milk, and cakes, as well as baked goods and pasta dishes.

After we were full, it was time to move on. Our next stop was the "Khao Kho Post Office" to enjoy the most relaxing post office view. There is also a camping area here, but we are not sure if it is free or how much it costs. We need to call the post office to inquire further.

"If it were a foggy period, this spot would surely be a magnificent place to watch the sea of mist."

Upon arriving at our accommodation around 4 pm, we had dinner and relaxed in our room, planning to get an early night as we wanted to wake up early the next morning to catch the sunrise (I won't mention the name of the accommodation here, as it is no longer in operation).

When visiting this area, be sure to try the various "kralam" dishes, as they are freshly grown and abundant on both sides of the road. The "kralam" here is incredibly fresh, crunchy, and sweet.

Day 3: Witnessing the Sea of Mist at Phu Thap Boek

We set our alarm for 5 a.m. to catch the sea of mist at the viewpoint (we had a chance to see the sea of mist because it rained yesterday). But we were disappointed. The mist was not as thick as in the pictures. We almost gave up and went back to Bangkok...

It's past eight o'clock and the fog hasn't arrived yet, but I'm still excited. I've driven a long way. 5555555

However, after we strolled and had breakfast nearby, around 10 am, the fog started to roll in as we had hoped! At that moment, people were excited and rushed to take pictures, including us. 5555

During that time, everyone was focused on taking pictures and rushing towards the fog. After all, that's what we came here for, right? Hehe.

Before descending from Phu Thap Boek, it is a must to stop and take pictures with the cabbage fields that line both sides of the road. This is another symbol of the area, and there are shops selling fresh cabbage from the farm, as well as restaurants that serve various cabbage dishes for you to try.

The sea of mist trip is something that is difficult to expect. It depends on luck and the weather conditions on that day. Be prepared in advance. For visiting here, we think it offers more than just watching the mist. We get to relax with nature. The trees are lush and green. Just the smell of rain mixed with the mist is so good that I don't know how to describe it. See you again soon, Khao Kho, Phu Thap Boek.
