Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden is the largest botanical garden in Thailand. It is a popular tourist destination located near Chiang Mai city, easily accessible by car and local songthaews. The garden is situated in Mae Raem Subdistrict, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province, along the Mae Rim-Samoeng Road (1096). The terrain features a combination of plains and hills ranging from 300 to 970 meters above sea level. Established as an international botanical garden to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the garden showcases plant species organized by family and habitat suitability. It houses a diverse collection of plants from both Thailand and abroad. During the rainy season, especially in late June, the garden is particularly beautiful, offering stunning scenery for photography.

Tropical Rainforest Exhibit

The Tropical Rainforest exhibit is a large greenhouse showcasing the diverse flora and fauna of a tropical rainforest. The exhibit recreates the natural environment of a rainforest, complete with a simulated waterfall that provides humidity for the plants. Visitors can observe the plants up close via an elevated walkway (Skywalk).

The Arid Plants Greenhouse: A Haven for Drought-Tolerant Species

The Arid Plants Greenhouse is a spacious structure dedicated to cultivating a diverse array of drought-tolerant plants. Among its inhabitants are various species of cacti, including the iconic golden barrel cactus (Echinocactus grusonii), alongside members of the Euphorbiaceae family, succulents, and towering xerophytic trees.

The facility offers a variety of cacti, ornamental plants, and food and beverage options.

The Canopy Walkway is the longest nature trail in Thailand, stretching approximately 400 meters and towering 20 meters above the ground. It offers breathtaking panoramic views, providing a clear vista of Doi Mon Khao. Please note that the walkway is closed during rainy weather.
