Last month, we had the opportunity to visit Kanchanaburi and stay at the Raya Buri Resort, a floating raft resort on the Sri Nakarin Dam. We have already uploaded a review of the resort.

On our way back from the raft, we planned to visit either Huai Mae Khamin Waterfall or Erawan Waterfall.

We were hoping that since we were visiting Kanchanaburi during the rainy season, the waterfalls would have a lot of water. We thought this because it had been raining while we were staying at the resort, although it was only a light drizzle.

With two options to choose from, we decided to go to Erawan Waterfall because it was only 30 minutes away from our accommodation.

Huai Mae Khamin was about 1.5 hours away from our accommodation, which was quite a distance.

However, it turned out to be the right choice. On the same day, one of our Facebook friends visited Huai Mae Khamin Waterfall and posted an update on the water level.

It turned out that the waterfall was very dry. We were surprised and wondered why there was no water even though it was the rainy season.

Let's see what Erawan Waterfall was like. (The picture shows Erawan Waterfall on June 26, 2017.)

The journey to Erawan Waterfall takes approximately 3 hours from Bangkok.

Located in Si Sawat District, Kanchanaburi Province, the waterfall is situated within a national park, requiring an entrance fee of 100 baht per person and 30 baht per car.

Before reaching the waterfall, visitors will encounter a parking area and various shops selling food and souvenirs.

The distance from these shops to the waterfall is approximately 700 meters. Having previously visited Erawan Waterfall, we can attest to the strenuous nature of the roundtrip journey.

On this occasion, we opted for the convenience of a 30 baht golf cart ride, saving us valuable time. To be honest, we were simply too lazy to walk.

Here we are, the first tier of Erawan Waterfall, known as "Pha Laeo Ruea".

Upon reaching the first level, we were amazed by the abundance of fish. They were swimming in the same direction, creating a mesmerizing spectacle.

However, the waterfall's volume was significantly lower than anticipated, especially considering it was the rainy season.

This observation confirmed the ongoing drought conditions in Kanchanaburi province.

Erawan Waterfall has a total of 7 levels, but we only managed to reach the first 3 levels during our visit.

Well, consider this trip a chance to practice waterfall photography with guidance from a waterfall expert.

Equipped with my Fuji XT10 camera and 10-24 F 4 / PL lens, I experimented with the ND filter today.

It effectively reduced the glare on the water's surface, which I'm quite pleased with.

The first time we visited Erawan Waterfall, I can't remember which year it was, but it was around 4 years ago. We went during the Songkran festival.

We could barely see the waterfall because there were so many people. 555

Today, we came back to try again, but we encountered low water levels again. We don't seem to be very lucky, haha.

If the water level was higher, it would be a more graceful flow, which would be even more beautiful. But that's okay, we're not serious because we've already made it, hehe.

Let's walk and continue to the next level.

Level 2: The Fish Palace.

The layer is said to be teeming with fish, and the more fish there are, the more excited we get.

The fish practically live with people in the water.

Because they play in the water with us and don't run away, they're not afraid. But we're afraid for them.

The fish you see here is a giant barb. We visited during June, which is their spawning season.

Up close, they are quite large. If they come in large groups, it can be quite frightening! 555

Is this what the second floor of Wang Matcha's delicious stream looks like? Oh my god, is this a stream or pee? 555

No matter how little water there is, there are still tourists playing in the waterfall.

I must say that the waterfall is really fun to play in. The water is so cool and refreshing.

The day we went was a weekday, so most of the tourists who came to play in the waterfall

were foreigners, so we had the chance to see many people in two-piece suits.

Level 3 "Waterfall Cliff"

The third tier is also popular for swimming, as it features a wide stretch of water.

Although the waterfall's descent is somewhat shallow, the clear green water still makes for a comfortable swim.

On this visit to Erawan Waterfall, not only did I get to see the falls and practice photographing them again,

but I also saw some plump, white fish. Hehe.

Thank you for watching!
