Let's explore the hidden gems of Hong Kong! Today, we're venturing to Lamma Island, the third-largest island southwest of Hong Kong Island. This unseen destination promises a unique escape from the city's hustle and bustle.

The journey is easier than before. Take the train to Central Station and walk to the ferry pier, **Ferry Pier No. 4 - Sok Kwu Wan**. Be careful not to go to the wrong pier, as Pier No. 4 serves two destinations on Lamma Island. (I'll take you to the other one next time.)

The journey by boat took approximately 30-40 minutes. As we approached the island, the salty air filled our nostrils, signaling our arrival. Disembarking at the pier, we followed the path, turning right towards the island's interior. The trail led us uphill to the designated campsite, offering panoramic views. The ascent involved a combination of steps and dirt paths, with occasional slippery sections due to moisture. However, the overall route was manageable and comfortable. After nearly an hour's hike, we reached the summit.

Before setting up the tent, we realized that we were not in the designated camping area. Initially, we were pleased with the prospect of avoiding disturbances from other campers. However, we soon considered the possibility of encountering unexpected hazards, such as wild animals like buffalo or wild boars, as the chosen spot was likely a path for these creatures. We decided to take our chances and see what awaited us.

After setting up the tents, we waited to watch the sunset before going our separate ways to rest. The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet, with a cool breeze. As it started to get dark, we retreated to our tents to avoid the mosquitoes, waiting to gaze at the stars in the night sky.

Despite downloading a dedicated app for astrophotography and venturing out into the night, the resulting image was underwhelming. The culprit? A large moon illuminating the opposite side of the mountain, obscuring the stars from view.

The scene cuts to around 5 am. I woke up startled by the sound of people. I opened the tent and saw people walking around in the early morning to watch the sunrise. The pavilion was full of people enjoying the beautiful view of the sea and mountains as the sun slowly rose, casting an increasingly intense glow.

The heat signaled the end of our adventure. We swiftly packed up our tents and descended the mountain, boarding a boat to mark the conclusion of our sunset-chasing expedition. Until our next adventure, everyone...farewell!
