A short trip to Hua Hin

A one-day and one-night destination to rediscover old memories and reminisce about the past. It is said that this place holds stories waiting to be found... Let's embark on a journey of discovery.

Traveling by private car early in the morning, I was stuck in the traffic jam in Bangkok for hours before reaching Rama 2 Road. In fact, we visited Wat Khoi in Phetchaburi Province and The Venezia Hua Hin. I will share more about them later, as there are many interesting things to learn and see. Today, let's focus on this place first.

Plearnwan is located at the beginning of Hua Hin city, on the right-hand side if coming from Bangkok. Visitors need to make a U-turn near Wang Klai Kangwon Palace, between Soi Hua Hin 38-40.

The familiar entrance or facade that everyone who visits takes a picture of (try to capture it from a different angle).

A portrait of King Rama IX adorns the entrance.

The phrase "ห้ามสูบซิกาแรต" instead of "ห้ามสูบบุหรี่" evokes a nostalgic image of an old man, known as "อาแปะ," smoking a hookah with thick smoke billowing around him as he sits on a chair in front of a row of old wooden houses.

The philosophy, aspirations, and intentions behind the creation of Plearnwan, as recorded in the founder's notebook, reveal a compelling narrative of determination and purpose. The heartfelt account inspires a desire to share and contribute to the meaningful pursuit of rediscovering cherished memories.

As dusk approaches, the old wooden houses, though not luxurious, exude a classic charm reminiscent of riverside shophouses. The colorful flags evoke memories of sand pagoda festivals and temple fairs. However, the unique character of this place lies in the abundance of portraits of the King and Queen, along with the teachings of their father, forever intertwined, a ubiquitous sight in every household of the past.

The words "inspiration," "unity," "the King's home," and "the King's heart" are meant to convey a message to the people.

Once upon a time, in a tale told to children, timepieces of various shapes, forms, and designs, each with its own unique beauty and charm, were gathered together to be remembered once more.

A refreshing sweetness that cools the heart upon tasting.

The proverb "เก็บเบี้ยใต้ถุนร้าน" literally translates to "collecting shells under the shop's floorboards." It signifies the act of accumulating small, seemingly insignificant things over time, which eventually amount to something substantial. This proverb emphasizes the importance of thrift and saving, even in small amounts, as these small savings can eventually lead to significant gains.

After school, students would crowd around the toy vendor's cart, their excited chatter filling the air.

Go down and check it out.

Delivery of "bamee guay" and "guay jub" through alleys and narrow streets. Trying to lift it, it was very heavy. It reminded me of the old man who used to sell it by carrying it on his shoulders. How much he must have endured. This is just the equipment and tools for making a living, not including the weight of what he was going to sell. The ancients were very diligent and persevering.

Conclusion

The past is still sweet at Talad Rot Fai, where you can discover the past and old stories. Even though the world turns with time, new things will replace old ones. One day, the world of this era will probably be replaced by new things that will emerge. In this era, we can go back to see some things from the past again, which is a happy and enjoyable learning experience.

This concludes our trip. See you again!
