During the rainy season, many people think of visiting rice terraces.

There are several beautiful terraced rice fields in Chom Thong district that are popular tourist destinations and landmarks for locals. However, there are also hidden gems, equally stunning terraced rice fields that are less known and just as beautiful, located not far from the district center. These hidden gems are not promoted like the famous ones, but they are worth exploring. Today, we will take you to see the terraced rice fields at Khun Ya.

This place is perfect for those who don't like rushing and prefer a relaxed pace, or for two-wheeled enthusiasts who haven't planned a trip yet during this rainy season. We recommend this location. The off-road path is a bit challenging, but regular motorcycles can still navigate it. It's not crowded at all, making for a very peaceful experience. I went on this trip alone. The date of my trip was Saturday, September 2nd, 2017. This was a month when the rice fields were a beautiful green. The rice fields will likely turn yellow around November to December. I might go again then and capture some more photos to share.

Once you turn, you will see this intersection. Do not go towards the fabric stall, but instead go right according to the map.

Continue on the road until you reach the Hmong village of Mae Ya Noi. Pass through the village or ask the locals for directions to Khun Ya Sui. Before reaching Khun Ya, you will encounter the rice terraces.

Another way is to go up the Mae Ya Waterfall. Turn left at the point on the map.

Continue sailing and you will eventually encounter the terraced rice fields.

Moving forward, you will encounter terraced rice fields. If you are coming from kilometer 31, you will see them.
