Why do we need to embark on a journey, escaping the comfortable life in the city to live in a place... where there are no amenities, no electricity, no air conditioning, not even a fan, no hot water... to bathe... to eat simple meals?

But... we feel inexplicably comfortable... mentally and physically...

Perhaps it's the mountains, the mist, the sound of rain falling on the roof, the smell of the earth, the green rice fields surrounding us...

And today, we at "Travelers' Choice" would like to take you to a tourist destination where the accommodation may be ordinary, but the view is extraordinary. That place is Ban Pa Bong Piang, a rice terrace in Thailand that is no less beautiful than anywhere else. Located in Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province, this place offers stunning views of rice fields on high hills and the surrounding mountains. It is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Chiang Mai and a must-visit destination. The rainy season and the end of the rainy season, like now, are the best times to visit and experience the atmosphere of the green and yellow rice fields that cover the entire area. However, photographers also love to visit during the planting season when the sunlight reflects on the water in the rice fields.

This trip is one of the most anticipated journeys, and it's also another trip to Chiang Mai, countless times. 555+ Because Chiang Mai has many tourist attractions that I myself don't know when I will stop visiting this province.

Travel
We flew directly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai Airport. We flew after work because we planned to find something delicious to eat late at night. In the end, we had chicken at midnight before going to bed. ZZzz.. Around 9 am, we started from Chiang Mai city to Pa Bong Piang Forest. I used my own car, a pickup truck (my friend lives in Chiang Rai and picked me up, which was very convenient). We headed towards Doi Inthanon and turned left to Mae Pan Waterfall for about 9 km. For those who bring their own car, it is recommended to park at Mae Pan Waterfall. Then, take a 4X4 car up to Pa Bong Piang Forest for about 15-20 minutes.

• Please note that there is no electricity at the homestay. We recommend bringing a power bank and flashlight for a truly natural experience.
• 4x4 transportation can be arranged when booking your accommodation (roundtrip price: 700 baht).
• Please bring your own towels, soap, shampoo, and other personal necessities.
• Don't forget your raincoat if you're visiting during the rainy season - you're guaranteed to get wet! ^^
• The accommodation fee is 500 baht per person, which includes two meals (dinner and breakfast). Coffee and Ovaltine are also available in the morning.
• The accommodation is in the form of huts with woven bamboo walls and bamboo flooring.
• There is one bathroom and one shower room, both without hot water.

| Rice Terrace Balcony House | Our little home for the night

The house we stayed in consisted of two adjacent units sharing a common balcony. The left unit accommodated three people, while the right unit accommodated four.

As shown on the far right, there was one bathroom and one shower room.

After a day of exploring the rice terraces, it's time for dinner.
