Gateauxhouse

30th Anniversary
Hello

This review is special because Gâteau House, a Taiwanese-style bakery that has been with Thai people for over thirty years, has created a special menu to celebrate its 30th anniversary at Siam Square Soi 2. The special menu item is Pao Ping, an authentic Taiwanese recipe that Gâteau House claims is the number one dessert in Taiwan. They also have a special drink made with Aiyu, or jade jelly in Thai, a jelly made from the fruit of a type of fig tree that is native to Taiwan. The Aiyu seeds used by the restaurant come from Alishan Mountain, which is known for its high-quality Aiyu. To see what these dishes look and taste like, check out the video from Facebook Live.

The Siam Square Soi 2 branch has recently relocated from Henri Dunant Road. The new location boasts a fresh, air-conditioned interior with ample seating, offering a familiar selection of pastries and beverages.

Pao Ping: A New Dessert Sensation

Pao Ping, a recently introduced menu item, has become a must-try for dessert enthusiasts. This customizable treat allows diners to choose their preferred size (M for 4 toppings or L for 6 toppings), base (grass jelly or tofu pudding), and sauce (fresh milk or goji berry). Finally, they can select their desired toppings to complete their personalized dessert experience.

There will be 8 toppings available.

'Jade Jelly'
Chewy, bouncy texture with a subtle fragrance. Delicious, highly recommended.

'Two-tone tapioca pearls'
Golden and translucent, with a beautiful shine, chewy and smooth texture, and a unique flavor. Recommended.

'Peanut'
Large, white kernels with a distinct peanut aroma and flavor. The flesh is juicy, soft, and easy to eat. Recommended.

‘Bua Loi’
These colorful and bite-sized treats boast a delightful chewy texture and a distinct flavor profile.

'Longan Gold'

This variety boasts a full, fleshy piece with a satisfying crunch and a subtle, fragrant aroma. The flavor is well-balanced, not overly pronounced, and refreshingly easy to enjoy. A well-executed treat.

‘Taro’
The taro should be firm and chewy, not crumbly or mushy, with a delicious aroma. This is the standard for good taro.

In addition, there are 'red beans', 'lotus seeds', and 'mung beans'. Overall, the taste of the shop is very good, whether it is the smell, texture, and taste, which are well-balanced, not too strong, not too prominent, and easy to eat.

The order was for a size M, full cup, with plenty of toppings and ice shavings. The tau huay was fragrant and the texture was smooth, soft, and refreshing. The toppings added different flavors and textures, and you can choose according to your preference. This cup included tapioca pearls, taro, and glutinous rice balls. The combination was fragrant, chewy, and slightly sweet. If you don't like your desserts too sweet, you'll definitely enjoy this. For those who prefer a bit more sweetness, there are goji berries that are very sweet and fragrant. It's recommended to taste it first and then add the berries gradually to your liking.

I would like to order a size M, with the same amount of filling as before. I would like to try the grass jelly with toppings such as longan, peanuts, and mung beans, topped with fresh milk. It will be a healthy cereal-based drink. The grass jelly is fragrant and chewy, with a distinct flavor. It is delicious to eat with the toppings, which enhance the flavor, as well as the fresh milk, which is fragrant and creamy, similar to goji berries. It's another delicious option. I recommend it.

Beverage List

This review will focus on Taiwanese-style beverages.

‘Grass Jelly Iced Tea’
Chilled milk tea with grass jelly – The tea is very fragrant, the milk has a moderate richness, and the chewy grass jelly adds a touch of color. Recommended.

‘Pearl Fresh Milk’
Fresh milk with tapioca pearls – The fresh milk is fragrant and creamy, but not too rich, so you don't have to worry about it being greasy. The chewy tapioca pearls add a delightful texture.

‘Aiyu Jelly Lemon Tea’

This refreshing drink combines the zesty tang of lemon tea with the delightful chewiness of aiyu jelly. The fragrant tea boasts a vibrant sweet and sour flavor, perfectly complementing the aiyu jelly's subtle aroma and satisfying texture.

Highly recommended!

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Gâteau House, a special menu item called Pao Ping has been introduced. This dish has received positive reviews for its aroma, taste, and texture. The restaurant also offers authentic Taiwanese-style beverages. In addition to the special menu item, Gâteau House continues to offer its regular bakery items and seasonal treats, such as mooncakes. The Pao Ping is currently only available at the Siam Square Soi 2 branch, but there are rumors that it may be expanded to other branches in the future. I highly recommend trying this special menu item. I personally enjoyed it and believe that others will too.

Thank you very much.
