We have visited this market with our family many times, but it has been more than four years since our last visit. We haven't been back since, so this trip feels just as exciting as the first time.

How to get there
We took a public bus to Sai Tai Mai and then hailed a taxi to the floating market. If I remember correctly, the fare should not exceed 100 baht. I will attach the directions at the bottom of this page. The market is located in Bang Ramat Subdistrict, Taling Pling District, Bangkok. On the way to the floating market, many people might think that they have left Bangkok and entered another province, as the view along the way is mostly of farmlands. In just a few moments, we will arrive at Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market.

Observation: As you approach the market, you will notice traffic congestion due to vehicles slowing down to pick up and drop off passengers. There is also a parking lot available for those who choose to drive themselves. The parking fee is only 20 baht.

"Should I drop you off here?" the taxi driver asked,

Today, we decided to take a trip on a long-tail boat. We have visited this market many times before, but we have never used this service. This time, we will not miss it! We walked over to inquire and purchase tickets at the service point. There are two trips to choose from. The ticket price for Thai people is 60 baht, and for foreigners, it is 100 baht.

Trip 1: Floating Market at Wat Saphan, Orchid Garden, Duration: approximately 1.30 hours.
Trip 2: Thai House Homestay, Old House, Garden Tour, Duration: approximately 1.20 hours.

We decided to try Trip 2, booked tickets and scheduled a time.

As the appointed time approached, we walked to the designated spot and waited for the boat to pick us up. The boat arrived slightly later than scheduled. Before departure, there was a brief introduction and some instructions. During our trip, there were no life jackets provided. However, on the return journey, we noticed that they were available, but it seemed that one had to request them. We believe that life jackets should be mandatory for all passengers. We encourage future travelers to advocate for this. At that moment, we didn't think of it. Both Thai and foreign tourists boarded the boat, and we were ready to embark on our journey.

The journey offers scenic views of riverside houses on both banks, showcasing the local way of life. Children play by the water with their elders, some smiling and waving at passing tourists. It's a heartwarming sight, offering a glimpse into a unique and unfamiliar world. As we sail along, enjoying the cool breeze, we soon reach our first destination.

For families with elderly members, be aware that the path is narrow and uneven, making it difficult to walk. However, during our visit, we saw families with elderly members who were able to walk slowly. It is recommended to inquire about the route at the service point.

After this point, we have to continue walking along the small paths. To reach the boat pick-up point to return to the peaceful market, a true slow-life experience in this area.

After finishing our boat trip, we continued walking through the market. We couldn't resist the temptation to eat again. There were so many delicious options, it was hard to choose! We ended up trying the coconut shell noodles, a famous local dish. The noodles were delicious as usual, but the unique presentation in a coconut shell made it even more special. We couldn't resist taking photos and sharing them on social media.

After a satisfying meal, we continued to explore the market.

The trip ends beautifully with a sweet treat, a variety of traditional ice cream flavors to choose from.

The Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market is open every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday without exception.
