The airport bus provides convenient transportation from the airport to Taipei Main Station.

Last week, I had the opportunity to visit Taipei, Taiwan. I didn't have any information about the city and had never been there before. However, a friend who had visited Taipei recommended this hotel to me, saying that it had Thai staff who could easily and conveniently communicate with me, book my room, and answer my questions. The hotel in question is Mr. Lobster Secret Den design hostel Taipei Taiwan. The name is a bit long, so I'll just call it Mr. Lobster for short.

Along the way, there are old locomotives on display. Feel free to take pictures.

Initially, I intended to book through various agents. However, based on my experience, I recommend checking prices directly with the hotel whenever possible. In most cases, the prices are comparable or even lower. At Mr. Lobster, there are Thai staff members who are easy to communicate with. I found their phone number and email address ([email protected]) through a web search. I sent an email inquiry and received a prompt response with a special price lower than those offered by online agents. Therefore, I decided to book two nights initially and make further arrangements later.

MRT Exit Y19

According to Mr. Lobster's Thai staff, the most convenient way to get to the hotel from the airport is by bus. Take the bus from the airport to Taipei Main Station. Walk through the building to the main road. Turn your back to the road and turn left. Keep walking until you see a pedestrian bridge. Cross the bridge and turn your back to the main road. Walk to the left again. Cross two intersections and turn right. Keep walking until you see the MRT Exit Y19. Turn right before you reach the exit and you will find the hotel.

Mr. Lobster's entrances: front (left) and back (top right)

As we arrived early in the morning, Mr. Lobster (left image) was not yet open. However, a sign indicated that we should enter from the back (top right). Upon entering, we encountered a security guard counter and a green elevator. We proceeded to the 9th floor.

Mr. Lobster's Lobby

The original text describes a situation at a hotel in Taipei, where the author arrives early and is offered refreshments while waiting to check in. They inquire about different room types and ask to take photos for future reference, but are unable to do so as the rooms are occupied.

Here's the translated text:

Upon arrival, we encountered a queue. After a brief wait, a staff member approached us and offered to store our luggage. While the check-in time at this Taipei hotel is 3 pm, the staff member kindly offered us refreshments at the hotel's restaurant, recognizing our weariness from the journey. We inquired about the available room types and expressed our desire to take photos for future reference, anticipating a future visit with friends. However, as the rooms were fully occupied at that time, we were unable to take any photos.

"If you come with a large group, Mr. Lobster also offers private city tours."

We returned in the afternoon after exploring the MRT line. We checked in to take a shower and rest. Fortunately, there was a vacant room available for us to view.

The first room available for viewing is a triple room with single beds, including one bunk bed and one single bed. A desk is located next to the bunk bed. The room is equipped with a TV and air conditioning, providing a comfortable living environment. The bunk bed also has a reading lamp for added convenience.

Each room has an en-suite bathroom in the same style (right). The corridor between the rooms is very stylishly decorated (left).

4-Bed Dorm Room

The next room is a 4-bed dorm room. You can rent a single bed or the entire room. Each bed has its own lamp for individual lighting.

Each room is equipped with a TV, a writing desk, and a survival kit containing towels, tissues, and a hairdryer. There is also a dedicated area for hanging clothes.

The room offers a view of the cityscape of Taipei from the window and the dining area.

The next room is a double room with two single bunk beds. It has a small sofa for relaxing, watching TV, a corner for hanging clothes, a private bathroom, and all rooms have air conditioning.

The interior design is very stylish.

The next room is a triple room with one double bed, one single bed, and a large sofa for lounging. It also has a small window above the single bed where you can open the curtains and enjoy the view outside.

The space under the bed is used as storage.

The welcome basket contains the following items in every room for your use.
If you run out of anything or need more, please feel free to request additional items from the reception desk.

Let's take a look at the communal dining area. It's a spacious and well-lit room, perfect for enjoying meals or socializing. Additionally, the Wi-Fi is free and has a strong signal throughout the space.

The dining room offers complimentary coffee and drinks around the clock. A shared refrigerator, a lounge area, and a studio for writing postcards are available. Check out the reviews of previous guests. Additionally, the establishment offers artistic postcards in the style of d'or-ink for 30 NTD each and stamps for 10 NTD, with free delivery included.

Taiwanese Breakfast

This hotel offers a complimentary breakfast, which includes Taiwanese-style options that are vegetarian. While the breakfast does not include meat, it offers a variety of breads and toppings, including exotic and delicious options such as dragon fruit jam and red bean paste.

Delicious fruits and mashed potatoes are also available.

Taiwanese breakfast: Congee and various pickled vegetables

I don't know what this is. I forgot to ask, and I didn't eat it, but it looks delicious.

However, if you are tired of the hotel breakfast, there is also a Taiwanese breakfast restaurant below the back exit. The price is not expensive, and it looks delicious. However, it is only open in the morning.

The area around Mr. Lobster is not only close to Taipei Main Station, but there is also a small pedestrian street on the opposite side of the road. You can walk around and shop there. Oh, there is also a wholesale bakery in the elevator hall. You can choose before returning to Thailand.

The bustling walking street opposite Mr. Lobster.

Besides the shopping streets, there are also temples, or what we call shrines. Many people come to worship here. The architecture is Chinese, with intricate stone carvings, unlike most shrines, which are mostly made of wood.

Another perspective of the walking street

This restaurant has a long queue, so I don't know what it is. I sneaked in to take a look and found that it sells fried donuts. I didn't join the queue because there were too many people. However, this restaurant is not far from Mr. Lobster, located on the walking street.

If you're feeling tired and hungry late at night and don't want to venture far to a night market, simply walk past Mr. Lobster and you'll soon come across Ningxia Night Market. While not particularly large, this night market offers a dazzling array of food options. In addition to the culinary delights, there's also a children's play area and a small shopping section. If Ningxia Night Market seems a bit too far, there are also Japanese restaurants and Taiwanese beef noodle shops nearby on the walking street. Feel free to ask the reception for a map and information on nearby attractions. English assistance is available.

Ningxia Night Market

My stay at Mr. Lobster was very comfortable. The location, room, and nearby attractions were all convenient. The price was also reasonable for the level of accommodation. Most importantly, there were Thai staff who were always available to assist with various matters, which is a significant advantage over other accommodations. If you are interested in staying here, you can contact the hotel through their website or email. If you mention that you were referred, you may receive a significant discount.
