Hong Kong, a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China, is a must-visit destination for everyone.
While many may perceive Hong Kong as a shopping destination, it offers much more than just retail therapy. Beyond the bustling markets and designer stores, the city boasts a rich tapestry of experiences waiting to be explored. From its vibrant cultural heritage to its stunning natural landscapes, Hong Kong presents a myriad of opportunities for personal growth and discovery.
Let's dive right in. What makes Hong Kong so appealing that it attracts so many Thai tourists?

This trip took place from March 14th to March 18th, 2018.
Travel preparation:
- Exchange money from Thailand. When we exchanged, the exchange rate was 4.02.
- Buy an internet SIM card. When we bought it from Hongkongfanclub, it cost 380 baht and could be used for 7 days. Change the SIM card as soon as you board the plane.
- Check the weather, as it rained and was very cold (16 degrees Celsius) on the first day of our trip due to the rain.
- Buy tickets for the Ngong Ping 360 cable car in advance from Thailand to avoid long queues, as there are many tourists.
- Transportation in Hong Kong is very convenient, as the MTR reaches all tourist attractions.
- Please bring a three-pin plug, as the power outlets are different. However, the voltage is 220 V, the same as in Thailand. Please also bring a power strip if you have many electrical devices, such as camera and phone chargers.

Long Legs in Hong Kong
Our flight departed in the morning at 8:00 AM. We flew with the national airline, Thai Airways.
Thai Airways, the wings of the kingdom.
The flight duration was approximately 2 hours. Hong Kong time is 1 hour ahead of Thailand time.
Upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport, we purchased an Octopus Card, a convenient reloadable payment method for transportation and everyday purchases. The card can be used on various modes of public transport, including trains, trams, and buses, as well as at convenience stores like 7-Eleven.
- The card requires a refundable deposit of 50 HKD and an initial top-up of 100 HKD. Upon returning the card, the deposit will be refunded.
Our accommodation was located in the heart of Mong Kok, Kowloon. Hong Kong has two sides: Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. There are some differences between the two. Hong Kong Island is cleaner and more like a business area, while Kowloon is more chaotic because it borders mainland China. However, I personally booked accommodation in Kowloon because there are many restaurants, the prices are reasonable, and it is convenient to travel.
- The accommodation is called Habour Hotel and is located behind Langham Place. It is very easy to find. If you are traveling by MTR, get off at Mong Kok Station and exit from Exit C4. If you are taking the bus from the airport, take the A21 bus and get off at the 6th stop, Mong Kok Station. Then turn left and walk straight until you see KFC. After that, cross the zebra crossing and walk straight for two blocks. Turn right and you will see the market vendors and the Habour Hotel sign.
- The hotel was not cramped and was suitable for two people. The bathroom was clean and the service was excellent. The housekeeper cleaned the room every day we stayed.
- The price was over 8,000 baht for 4 nights for two people, which is considered okay. We recommend this place. Booked through Expedia.
- Check-in is at 2 pm. That is, after landing at 11:30 am and taking the bus from the airport, it takes almost 40 minutes.
Day 1: Culinary Adventure in Mongkok, Hong Kong
Embark on a gastronomic journey through the vibrant streets of Mongkok, savoring iconic Hong Kong delicacies.
This restaurant does not have an English menu. We ordered by pointing at the pictures, but the shrimp dumplings were delicious. They cost 32 HKD.
The coordinates are located behind Langham Place shopping mall.
Waffle Hongkong, a delicious and affordable treat at just 20 HKD.
Steamed fish balls come in two flavors: spicy and non-spicy. We chose the spicy option, which was delicious. Highly recommended. 20 HKD.
Grilled squid for 20 HKD
Ginger soup with glutinous rice balls, priced at 20 HKD.
After a day of eating, we returned to our accommodation because it was raining heavily on our first day in Hong Kong. :( As a result, we were unable to do much sightseeing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 2 Good Morning. Today we will wake up early to see what the people of Hong Kong eat for breakfast.
The fresh market in front of the hotel is very similar to the markets we have back home.
Hot tea with dim sum is a delightful combination, especially with the comfortable 18-degree weather.
The One dim sum is a local restaurant located near a hotel on the roadside.
Steamed bun, 7 HKD
Rice noodle roll, priced at 22 HKD
After recharging, we continued our journey.
The most convenient way to travel is by MTR, which can take you to any part of Hong Kong.
The first stop is Hong Kong Disneyland. Get off at Sunny Bay Station and transfer to the Disneyland line.
The first time I wondered why everyone must visit Hong Kong Disneyland.
The opening time is 10:00 AM, and there was already a long queue of people waiting to enter. We also arrived early. The ticket price was quite expensive at 2,300 baht. While the park might be enjoyable for those with children, the queues for the rides were extremely long. A full day is needed to experience everything, but we only had half a day, which was enough to see the main attractions.

What should we eat for lunch?
After researching which stations offered interesting food options, we decided to embark on a spontaneous journey and disembarked at the station.
Shum chui po Station
Roasted Duck and Crispy Pork Rice 38 HKD
Egg tart, priced at 4.5 HKD, is delicious and a must-try.
After lunch, we took the train back to Mong Kok Station to shower after spending half a day at the amusement park.
Afternoon
From Central Station, we can take a leisurely tram ride to Art Street, also known as Hollywood Road.
A popular spot among teenagers, this street is lined with murals that are a must-see.
SOHO Street, Hollywood Road, Central, featuring a collection of wall art.
What to do in the evening?
Tsim Sha Tsui Station
During the evening hours at the station, tourists and travelers alike gather to watch the light show from the banks of the river on the Hong Kong side.
Day 3 will take you on a tour of a little-known area
1. Daimond hill Station What's so good about this station?
Nan Lian Garden
Who would have known that Hong Kong has such a beautiful garden and the atmosphere inside is so good
Take a ferry across from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island.
2. Take the Star Ferry from Tsim Sha Tsui Pier to Hong Kong Island for HKD 2. You can pay with your Octopus card.
****
The tram service is only available on the Hong Kong side. What I really like is that Hong Kong's buses, public transportation, and even the subway have a very good transportation system. I wish our country had something like this.
3. To reach Wang Tai Sin Temple, take the MTR to WANG TAI SIN Station and exit via Exit B.
4. The Peak: If you are willing to wait in a long queue for the tram, it is recommended to take the bus instead. This will save you time as you won't have to stand in line for an extended period. To reach the bus terminal, exit Central Station at Exit A and follow the signs. You will find people queuing for Bus No. 15.
5. Shopping in Mong Kok: The bustling Mong Kok district, also known as Ladies' Market, offers a wide variety of sneakers from various brands at competitive prices. However, careful inspection is recommended to ensure quality.
Day 4: Paying Homage to the Big Buddha at Nong Ping 360
Tip: Purchase your cable car tickets in advance from Thailand to avoid long queues. The air at the top is excellent, quite cool, and windy due to the high altitude.
After visiting the temple, I went back down to find something to eat. Then, I took the train back to Mong Kok Station because I wanted to go shopping. 555555555+ After a lot of sightseeing, I had to return to Thailand the next day. 5 days passed by so quickly.
The experience of visiting Hong Kong is that most people do not speak English, but English signs are available everywhere. Traveling alone or without a tour is very convenient, and I highly recommend visiting the many tourist attractions available.
It is recommended to download the My HK guide app, which provides information on tourist attractions and restaurants at each station. This app is very useful and convenient. Thank you for reading.
Please share your Hong Kong trip and previous trips.
