3. Prasat Sra Kamphaeng Yai
The Grand Prasat Sra Kamphaeng Yai: A Monumental Khmer Temple
Prasat Sra Kamphaeng Yai stands as the largest and most well-preserved Khmer temple in the province. This impressive structure features three towers arranged on a single base, aligned along a north-south axis and facing east. The central tower, the main sanctuary, is constructed from sandstone with some interspersed brickwork. Its lintel depicts Indra, the king of gods, riding an elephant on a pedestal above a makara (mythical sea creature). The two flanking towers are built from brick with decorative elements in sandstone, including lintels, pediments, and doorjambs. Behind the southern tower lies another brick tower, while the front boasts two brick-built halls. A surrounding ambulatory, constructed from laterite and sandstone, encloses the complex. Four gopuras, or entrance pavilions, mark each cardinal direction. Notably, the northern brick hall features a lintel depicting Vishnu reclining on Ananta Shesha, the serpent king, amidst the cosmic ocean. Similarly, the southern brick hall displays a lintel portraying Shiva and Parvati seated on Nandi, the bull.
The castle is currently under the care of the Department of Fine Arts, where numerous archaeological artifacts have been unearthed. These include lintels depicting Shiva Nataraja, Krishna lifting Mount Govardhana, Buddha images in the Naga subduing posture and the meditation posture, and terracotta Buddha amulets.

4. Prasat Ban Prasat
Built during the reign of King Suryavarman I in the 16th century CE, Prasat Hin Huay Tub Tim served as a sanctuary for the deity Trimurti. This ancient Khmer temple has undergone modifications over time, particularly in its roof structure, which resembles other temples but stands taller. The complex comprises three brick towers situated on a shared laterite base, aligned along a north-south axis. Enclosing walls with gateways constructed from laterite surround the towers. While it is believed that the temple originally had three or four entrances, only the southern gateway remains visible today.
The central prang is slightly larger than the two flanking prangs, but its roof is lower. It has a square base with twelve receding corners and a single doorway on the east side. The doorway has a sandstone frame and a lintel depicting a figure standing above a makara. The lintel also features a garland motif that divides the image of the figure standing in a pavilion. It is impossible to determine the identity of the figure, as the carving is unfinished.
The two flanking prangs have been modified, particularly in their roofs and doorways, which are now completely sealed. The sandstone door frames and lintels remain visible, with the latter depicting the Churning of the Ocean of Milk scene carved on the lintel in front of the southern prang.
Suggested activities: pay respects to Buddha, make merit, take photos, and explore historical sites.

5. Pha Mor E Daeng
The Pha Mor E Daeng cliff, situated on the Thai-Cambodian border, offers breathtaking panoramic views. This towering red rock formation provides a unique vantage point, allowing visitors to gaze upon the majestic Preah Vihear temple. The sheer cliffs, stretching approximately 300 meters, mark the boundary between Thailand and Cambodia, revealing a captivating vista of the Cambodian lowlands below.
The Mo E-Daeng cliff features a bas-relief depicting three figures in Cambodian attire. Created before the Preah Vihear temple, around the mid-11th century, it is approximately 1500 years old. Archaeological artifacts, including a reclining Buddha statue, are present. Stairs lead down to view the bas-relief on the sandstone wall beneath the cliff, facing east. From the highest point of Mo E-Daeng cliff, the Preah Vihear temple offers a clear view.
Apart from the high-angle view, if you have the chance, I recommend visiting the nearby Khao Phra Wihan National Park. The park is a must-visit for anyone who hasn't been there yet. The terrain is mostly mountainous, following the Phnom Dong Rak mountain range, which forms the border between Thailand and Cambodia. The area is covered by dry evergreen forests, mixed deciduous forests, and dry dipterocarp forests. It is also home to a large number of wild animals that roam between the forests of the two countries. The Pha Mo E Daeng cliff has witnessed various events from the unrest along the Thai-Cambodian border.
Phu Mo E Daeng is accessible by car and can accommodate tourists in all seasons. Staff are available to assist with tours of Phu Mo E Daeng, which is open to visitors only on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

The castle is surrounded by a horseshoe-shaped moat, except for the entrance on the south side. The central tower is made of laterite and covered with brick as an outer shell. The flanking towers on the north and south sides are made of laterite and have only one entrance on the east side. Both towers are in ruins, with only half of the sanctuary remaining.

The temple's interior is beautiful and is home to the shrine of Chao Pho Uparat, a deity worshipped by the people of Bua Bua. There is a Sala Rueng Kaew, a magnificent ordination hall, and between the ordination hall and the beautiful Sala Rueng Kaew, there is a Huea Suang, which was brought by Phra Ajarn Sri Chantasaro from Ban Pong district to serve as a philosophy to teach the people of Bua Bua to love and unite.
