PHANG NGA IN OCTOBER (2025)

Some reasons making Phang Nga become well known for Thai and foreigners because there are many activities, restaurants, good hotels and nice beaches. Me and my group of friends bought hotel voucher from travel exhibition in last July as we had plan to travel to Khao Lak in October as we want to see how this destination look like during end of raining season and beginning of winter!

I bought voucher at Khao Lak Emerald Beach Resort and Spa. Oa and Kook bought Casa De Laflora, Earn and Jone bought Sudalha. All are in Khao Lak area, but we want to have experience staying in our choice of hotel but join all program together.

The travel date was set for 10-13 October because there was long weekend in Thailand. Oa takes care to book air ticket, myself book the self-drive car and for activities we planned to discuss up on arrival.

10th October - we left Bangkok by Air Asia at 0945am and arrived Phuket around 1100am. On flight I notice an advertise for the must visit place

Then we added this place to be the first place to visit for this trip. We arrived Phuket on time. And contact the car rental Herzt's counter.

We got the car Honda HRV because it more comfortable for all 4persons（chosen by Kook）. However, Earn & Jone booked separate care for 2 persons.

After we got our car then we start our program with the restaurant for lunch, and I got recommended from another friend to try Klong Kian Restaurant. This is my first time to this restaurant as well.

We arrived restaurant around 1400hrs. There was not too crowded because if quite late lunch. And this is the view from restaurant as this restaurant located next to the Klong Kian pier.

The restaurant is small local restaurant, but they have lots of menus look yummy! But we start with drink at the first of all

This coconut is so fresh and drinking coconut juice from the coconut is the best drink menu. We order lunch for 4 persons because Earn and Jone preferred to go direct to their hotel for check in and relax first because they were too tired to stop anywhere.

Oa,Kook,Koh and I were enjoying this lunch because all menus were so good. And the prices were so cheap. Before we left the restaurant, we got some nice short for Kook and Oa as we want to remember this place that we want to come again 

After lunch then the first visit place on our list SAMED NANG SHE is our next stop

I suggest having lunch before go up to SAMED NANG SHE VIEWPOINT then you can just have a drink or a piece of bakery while enjoying the panoramic view. Because the cafe on the top of the mountain which is the place you can see beautiful view is not the full restaurant, they have some food menu, but they are more famous for bakery and drink.

We paid for the ticket THB 150/person for the shuttle transfer from the parking up to the viewpoint and this ticket can use for discount value at THB 150 for every paying THB 300（one ticket/THB 150 discount）

Actually, I came here in last June with another friend, but the weather was difference. In October look greener.

Oa and Kook got many nice shots

And our bakery today is Greek yogurt with blueberry

And drink is sparkling lychee

We spent around one hour at the cafe enjoy the view with drink and bakery then we left there for Khao Lak to check in at hotel

The beach is so beautiful, clean, peaceful and long

After checked in and refresh then we are waiting for Kook and Oh to Pick up for dinner. Oa & Kook's hotel located around 20 minutes away from my hotel while Earn & Jone around 300meters away from Oa

Our first dinner was at the local restaurant close to Oa's hotel. The name is Mae Pa

Spicy seafood salad

Deep fried squid

Vegetable with crispy pork. We ordered few more dishes because Earn & Jone also join this dinner. 

And after dinner we had small plate of roti. And after finished all food, Kook sent me back to my hotel. 

We slept early because we woke up so early today.

11th October - 2nd day in Khao Lak

I woke up around 6.30am today and went out to the beach for first thing. The weather was so good 

And the beach was so nice. After walked along the sandy beach then I return to my room for shower and then have breakfast. Today we will do bamboo rafting, so I prepared myself and came to Pick up me at 0900am

After we listen to the staff explain the routing of rafting and prepare life jacket then we all ready to start

We were lucky today because the water level is good for bamboo rafting. I like this kind of activity

The weather, the green of nature, the cool water. On the way, we found some snakes, flog and colorful dragonfly. 

They stop on the way and suggest us to swim but the water was too cold for us so we just sit on the raft and relax

It was around 40 minutes on the raft and then we reached to the pier

Get off from the raft and get on the local truck to go back to the parking. They have shower room which we can change wet cloths.

We met some local people suggested us to visit the black sandy beach called Nang Thong Beach which located around 15 minutes from the rafting

And we went there. There is a glister black sandy beach

It amazing that the black sand is under the brown. But those boys and girls interesting to take nice photos more than find the answer of this black sand

And we also got one took by Oa

We left Nang Thong beach and continue to the restaurant for lunch. And restaurant today was recommended by hotel's staff. The name is "Krachang Khao Lak Seafood"

I like their location 

Restaurant is on the floating platform near the pier. Look like fisherman village

There are many fishing boats

And the view is amazing, beautiful

We got good table and when staff put the menu then lots of dishes was ordered

I ordered steam crab

Fried fish by Oa. This menu we order twice because it was so delicious

Deep fried squid order by Kook （also we order twice）

This yellow curry ordered by me as I love this menu so much (actually, I love all southern food)

Koh order vegetable. This vegetable is not easy to find so this menu normally famous in the south

And this razor clam also famous only in the south and we were lucky coming on the right season

Shrimp cake ordered by Earn and I tried one. Normally, shrimp cake is not my preferred menu because normally they cook it too sweet in other restaurants. But here is different, it so delicious

In my opinion for this lunch, all food were so good but the winer was the crab. 

We finished all dishes as always and left restaurant. Now we do not need anything else but go back to hotel and relax

We arrived hotel and it was raining till late evening, so we all did not have dinner. Actually, we all full by lunch so only some fruits for our dinner. 

13th October - 3rd day of the trip start with breakfast. Normally, breakfast at hotel is similar. They have international food including Thai. The difference is the taste of their signature menu. At Khaolak Emerald, I like their Phad Kraprao Kai （spicy chicken with basil). Their chef knows how to cook this menu with real Thai taste

Besides of food, I love passion fruit here. Sweet and sour and then follow by dragon fruit and watermelon made breakfast completed.

Oa and Kook had a glass of champaign during breakfast

Earn and Jone moved to Phuket one day before us. After breakfast Oa shown us a nice shot from her hotel

And I got some nice shot from the beach

We all checked out at 1200hrs and heading out to Phuket

This is long weekend, but the traffic was not that bad on the way from Khao Lak to Phuket. 

We decided to stop by at hotel in Phuket to check in and leave our luggage in room. The hotel today is Travel Lodge Phuket. It is 3* hotel but location and room is so good and the prices also reasonable.

After checked in and left all luggage then we drove direct to the restaurant which chose by Oa. Mor Moo Dong is the name of restaurant. It is local restaurant with open air table

For me this is the highlight of this lunch. Fried seabass with sweet and sour sauce

Squid in black sauce is Oa's favorite

As well as fried fish with fishcake inside

This clam also good

Kook ordered shrimp with tamarind sauce as he wants to compare the taste with the one, we had in Khao Lak. Same menu may have difference taste because it is dependent on the chef's recipe. But both are delicious

It was good lunch with reasonable prices and delicious. This trip we tried lots of food and all food are good

We left restaurant and drove back to hotel. It was around 5pm so we planned to enjoy walking at night market. We separated to take rest around 2 hours.

We meet again and call taxi to the market. Because this is long weekend with traffic so better go and back by taxi.

Every time I come to Phuket old town night market. There is always something changed, something new which is good and this market never made people boring. 

This time we found new roti shop

I have to say this new look of roti is so delicious. They wrap custard cream inside the roti and roll it. The roti a little bit sault combined with sweet custard cream created good taste.

This roti shop located between night market street 1 and 2. After finished roti then we walk to street 2 and we found something interesting. It is a Thai-Chinese restaurant name Madam Linjee and another part of restaurant open for dessert name Tian Tian. We go direct to Madam Linjee for pork ball.

We ordered one grilled and one with the soup. 

Both are so good, if we did not have dinner before came to market. We surely have dinner there. This is the last food tasting today and we left restaurant then continue walking to the clock tower which is one of the highlights of Phuket night market.

Then we left the market to hotel. If you visit this market, suggest you walk out to get the car in-front of GSB Bank as that area is less crowded. We got taxi and return to hotel.

13th October - last day of the trip, we leave breakfast at hotel and went out for Dim sum breakfast at Super Dim sum. I like this restaurant, so I took them try this time

Their dim sum selling same price THB 35/plate. 

And their drink is only THB 25. Very cheap and very delicious

I order egg noodle with red pork and soup

We were enjoying dim sum but Kook has another idea as he saw another restaurant with difference menu and look good to try. Them we walk from Dim sum to another restaurant

He ordered rice top with crispy pork and boiled chicken and it was so good.

And I ordered this soup mix with crispy pork, pork, noodle. After that we return to hotel to pack and prepare for check. We are leaving Phuket today by afternoon flight

Notice this trip was food tasting trip. Because Oa and Kook are not in to adventure like trekking, hiking, but preferred relaxing program but all of us love food and we found all good food this time. 

Actually, travel doesn't mean to stay in the camp on the mountain, sleep on the cruse or jungle.

It doesn't mean long trekking or scuba diving

But it means wherever you go and whatever you do to make you feel full.

This trip we were full of good food, good view, good room, good activities and most of all with good friends. Then nothing else need!
