What's a fun thing to do on a weekend? The beach, sure! National park, why not. Eat lots of food at a restaurant, heck yea! But what about something more exciting and adventurous? It can only be a water park!! So my friends and I decided to go spend a fine Sunday afternoon at Ramayana Water Park, near Pattaya.

I know the way to Chonburi quite well since I visit Pattaya and Rayong quite often but since we weren't sure where the water park is exactly, I decided to use Google Maps to get there. It took us through the back roads, which was a good thing. We were glad because we got to see some monkeys and the route was also very beautiful - filled with lush green trees.

It looked like it was going to rain but luckily it did not. We reached Ramayana and got in line to get our tickets.

Lots of families, couples and kids here, all excited to get in and have some fun. Pretty cool entrance too. We loved the style and ambiance here. Very rustic and archaic.

We get in through the VIP line and after getting our wristbands and towels, we head to the locker room. You can use your wristband to unlock. The shower room is also next door.

This is the VIP lounge and waiting room.

We go through the door and straight into the water park. Time to explore Ramayana!

First, we checked out the kids playing area and water fountains. We then crossed the bridge over a river, overlooking the park. The rides and activities are all here.

We get escorted to our private cabana. Different kinds of cabanas can be found all over the park and are priced differently. Depending on the number of people, you can rent them for the entire day.

Cabana 2-4 people 700 B
Cabana 4-8 people 1,200 B
Cabana 8-12 people 1,900 B

This was the view directly from our cute little cabana.

Behind us, a monstrous snake-like set of slides aptly named the Python and the Anaconda (far back). The lazy river slide is in the front.

If you want to relax after (or before) riding the slides, the wave pool is a good place to spend some time. It's like being at the beach.

For the daredevils and people looking for the extreme rides, the Aqualoop and and freefall are a must-try. Both drop you from a vertical platform as you come down steep slides at a thrilling speed. Definitely not for the fainthearted.

These were definitely my favorite! It's a long walk up the stairs so I didn't do more than one for each. But if you enjoy these kinds of ride, definitely recommend you to keep doing it. The fear is surely highest when you try one of these slides the first time.

More than just water slides

If water slides seem a bit too scary for you, then don't worry. There is a lot more for you to do at Ramayana.

First, you can go on either one of their large activity swimming pools. Dance in the pool along pumping music or do some water aerobics. There are even Zumba lessons.

There are also plenty of restaurants and food trucks around the park. You'll find ice-creams, fruit shakes, sodas, beers, a-la carte dishes and even a buffet line.

All in all, a great place for adventurists, family and friends to spend the day.
