Day 4 of the Chiang Mai Trip

Today, we will drive to Doi Chawng Ya, a scenic viewpoint. The driving route from Mae Kampong Village to Doi Chawng Ya is approximately 141 kilometers and takes about 3.5 hours.

The route we took to reach our destination was through the San Pa Tong district. This route is a mountain shortcut with elephant camps and waterfalls along the way. We were also able to stop and admire the blooming tiger lilies at the Chiang Mai Royal Agricultural Research Center (Khun Wang).

Embark on a journey with a penguin as your guide, dragging your luggage behind you.

Day 4

EP.1 "Nature Trail: Khun Wang and the Wild Himalayan Cherry Blossoms"

The journey to Khun Wang and the final destination, Doi Chaung Ya, offers stunning views. We chose the San Pa Tong route, a shortcut that winds up the mountain. At the foot of San Pa Tong, there is an elephant camp and a raft ride along the waterfall. Throughout the journey, there were intermittent heavy and light rains. This route has a construction zone, and the uphill section becomes muddy when it rains (3 kilometers).

Upon arriving at the Royal Agricultural Research Center in Chiang Mai (Khun Wang), our destination was the "Tiger Lily Flower." According to the staff, only about 10% of the Tiger Lily flowers were in bloom within the area. (The full bloom of the Tiger Lily depends on the weather conditions.)

Departing from the Royal Agricultural Research Center in Chiang Mai (Khun Wang), we headed towards Doi Inthanon. Thick fog blanketed the road, and the temperature was significantly low.

Fortunately, during our journey, we encountered the "Tiger Lily" once again at the rest stop before reaching Doi Chaung Ya.

The tiger lily is in full bloom, with approximately 60-70% of the flowers open. The cool weather and intermittent rain have created ideal conditions for the flowers to flourish.

Day 4

EP.2 "Doi Chaur Ya: Breathtaking Views"

The journey from Mae Kampong Village to Doi Chaung Ya, a distance of 141 kilometers, took approximately 3 hours and 21 minutes. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the stunning views of Doi Chaung Ya.

The entrance will have a tent rental service point. You can contact the owner directly. The price and size of the standard tent are as follows:

The tent size is 2.10*2.10*1.60 meters, which can accommodate approximately 2-3 people. The rental price is 400 baht/night.

Medium-sized tent (2.40*2.40*1.70 meters) can accommodate approximately 4 people. The rental price is 500 baht/night.

Large tent (3.00*3.00*1.90 meters) can accommodate approximately 6 people. Rental price is 600 baht/night.

Price of bedding set (set)

100 baht for a set (3 pieces: blanket, pillow, sleeping mat)

Price of bedding (separate)

  • Blankets, 50 baht each.

- Pillow, 20 baht each

- Standard sleeping mat, 50 baht per piece.

- Extra thick sleeping mat, 80 baht per piece

Mobile phone/camera battery charging service: 20 baht per charge. Power bank/laptop: 40 baht per charge.

Tourist attractions and accommodation near Doi Chaung Ya

We opted for a standard-sized tent that can accommodate approximately two people. The bathroom facilities are located below the tent.

The surrounding area is experiencing continuous rain throughout the day, accompanied by intermittent fog. (The temperature is not yet very cold.)

The other side of the accommodation is an orchard.

The shops are open until 10 pm.

The next section will feature two restaurants offering "moo kata," a popular Thai barbecue dish.

Pleasant 4 degrees amidst the falling rain, the weather is perfect.

The view from the shop reveals beautiful lights used to nurture plants at night.

The owner was very kind and walked over to recommend nearby tourist attractions, including the route to conquer the Kew Mae Pan.

The rain has covered the sky, so we probably won't see any stars tonight. Tomorrow, we will conquer the natural path of Kew Mae Pan.

The trail from Doi Chua to Mae Pan is approximately 13.7 kilometers long.
