Koh Kood: A Tropical Paradise Awaits

Koh Kood, renowned as the "Andaman of the East," beckons travelers seeking relaxation amidst pristine beaches and emerald-hued waters. This idyllic island offers a perfect escape for families, couples, and friends alike.

While our visit during the rainy season presented a slightly less-than-ideal seascape, the island's natural beauty remains undeniable. The allure of Koh Kood's crystal-clear waters and pristine sands promises an unforgettable experience for all who seek tranquility and rejuvenation.

Though the weather may not have fully cooperated this time, we eagerly anticipate a return visit to fully immerse ourselves in the island's captivating charm.

Don't wait any longer! Let's go see a travel review in the style of "Carrying Your Girlfriend on a Trip". Let's go!
We started our journey from Bangkok at 5:00 AM to Laem Sok Pier, which took about 4 hours. We arrived at the pier around 10:00 AM. We booked a package from Captain Hook Resort, which included:
* Round-trip speedboat tickets
* Accommodation for 3 days and 2 nights
* Buffet meals throughout our stay, a total of 8 meals. Yes, you heard that right, 8 buffet meals! They even have ice cream and herbal drinks on standby all day so you can eat until you're full.
* Various activities such as snorkeling, coral viewing, kayaking, firefly watching, and fire-twirling within the resort.
Hey, it's all-inclusive!
Next, the resort took us to board the boat at Koh Kood Express Pier, where they also offer car parking services.
The boat departs at 10:30 AM. It's a speedboat that normally takes an hour and a half. The boat drops passengers off at various resorts, but on the day we went, there was heavy rain and strong waves, so we had to be dropped off at the island's main pier.

(I forgot to ask the staff where) A resort staff member will be waiting to pick us up. From there, it's about a half-hour ride on a shared taxi to the resort. But wait, there's more! We then need to take a boat for another 5-10 minutes to finally reach the resort.

Others may not like it, but I do. It's exciting to travel by car and boat, getting on and off the boat again. It's a unique experience.

Upon arrival at the resort, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and offered refreshing welcome drinks. The staff informed us about the resort's amenities, including a buffet for all meals, with four meals served daily: breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks, and dinner. Needless to say, we gained some weight during our stay. After resting for a while, it was time to check in to our room. Let's take a look at the accommodations.

Inside the room

The front of our room offers a scenic view.

After putting away our belongings, the staff informed us that it was lunchtime and we could start eating. We were surprised that they offered us food as soon as we arrived. It was a pleasant surprise, and we were eager to dig in. (We came here specifically to eat, after all.) Let's go! We're ready to eat.

After finishing my meal, I was unable to take a walk due to the incessant rain. I spent the rest of the day relaxing in my room, falling asleep at some point, likely due to the fatigue from my travels.

Waking up to the mist, is this Koh Kood or Phu Thap Boek with fog?
After a while, it's time for dinner. Our dinner today...

The restaurant boasts an extensive menu with an abundance of seafood options. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, readily accommodating any additional requests. It's important to emphasize that this is a buffet, allowing you to indulge in a delightful culinary experience while enjoying the ambiance.

Tonight's activities

The resort staff put on a stunning fire-twirling show.

This is a Thai character that represents the sound "kho" in the Thai language.

It's time to find digestive aids.

The resort has a small bar.

The atmosphere here is amazing! I can't wait to order a delicious drink from the handsome bartender. His cocktail-making skills are incredible, and he's super friendly too.

It's time to return to the room. We'll continue our conversation tomorrow.

Good morning! Waking up to a refreshing morning with the sea, sky, and rain. Oh no, it's raining again!

Stop begging, no matter how you plead, it won't stop. It doesn't matter if it doesn't stop, it's time for breakfast. (It doesn't matter if it's raining, just eat! 555)

The staff informed us about the snorkeling activity after lunch.
I was happy that even though it was raining and we couldn't go anywhere, we were still able to go snorkeling. (However, the staff informed us that due to the rain, the seawater would be a bit cloudy and not as clear as usual.)

No worries, it's still better than not going at all, right? The resort has prepared all the equipment for us, such as snorkels, diving gear, life jackets, and towels. We're ready to go!

The resort prioritizes guest safety by providing a thorough pre-dive briefing and equipment check, including snorkels, life jackets, and safety procedures. This commitment to safety is highly commendable.

It's time to dive in! We went diving at the Racha Islands, about an hour and a half boat ride away. Once we reached the dive site, we spent about 45 minutes exploring the underwater world. I must say, it was truly breathtaking! The marine life and coral reefs were just as stunning as those found in the Andaman Sea.

It was time to return to our accommodation, and upon arrival, it coincided perfectly with snack time. Today's snack menu consisted of spicy papaya salad, fried chicken, and sticky rice (Wait a minute, where's the snack? This is a full-fledged meal!). Everything was delicious, and the staff playfully teased us, saying, "Save some room for the dinner buffet, guys." However, when you're hungry, there's no saving stomach space. We devoured everything with gusto.

The sky is clearing up, let's go for a walk and take some pictures.

Enjoy a kayaking trip and a leisurely stroll along the beach, which feels like a private haven for the resort. The tranquility and serenity are truly remarkable.

Taking a leisurely stroll, then the rain comes again. Sigh.

It's dinner time again, and the previous meal hasn't even digested yet. But we have to eat, because we're all about action and not talking. Just eat! 5555

I'm too full to eat anymore. I'm going to go lie down now. I'm exhausted from all the diving.

Good morning. I have to go back today, but it seems like the sky is playing tricks on me. It's not raining today, but the sky is still full of clouds. I'm so sad. Never mind, let's take some pictures before we go back.

With just over an hour to spare before the boat arrives at 9:30 AM, we hurriedly captured some final photos at the resort. It was time to bid farewell to the fun.

Time to go home! Goodbye, Captain Hook Resort, Koh Kood. The staff are all so lovely.

Note: Due to the heavy rain during the rainy season, the trip to the beach was slightly disappointing as we were unable to go out. Therefore, there are not many pictures of the beach and clear blue water.

I feel fortunate to have chosen this accommodation. I was impressed by all the staff at the resort, especially the handsome bartender, P'Hoy, and P'Wich, the resort manager, who welcomed us warmly and provided excellent hospitality. I would definitely return if I have the opportunity. Koh Kood *******
